i have a friend who has one (rsx type S) and i wanted to know where our cars (96esi) stands next to one has anyone here raced one if so what was the results i heard the rsx is only pulling a 16.2 just curious thanx
 
Yeah, my 92 GSX stock except boost at 15 lbs got beat consistently by my friend's 2002 RSX Type S with just intake. It took him 5th gear to do it, though. I'm positive I'll beat him now, though, cuz I'm it was a pretty close race before and I got way more stuff done.

1st the IVTEC kills the VTEC pull of the motor, the torque is absent untill 4500 rpm, and the hp untill 6000rpm.

2nd they weigh about the same, and the 92GSX is AWD wich means off the line alot quicker.

3rd means RSX type S left in the dust in the 1/4

4th the RSX type S barely gets into 4th gear in the 1/4

5th the RSX type S in SCC with intake, exhuast, cam gears, and headers, only made 178hp to the wheels, a 92GSX all stock but pushing 15psi, would put almost 190 to all four wheels (yes I said 190, at the stock 11 psi, it would put about 160).

6th it would kill a 2g NT unless the 2g was modded like crazey, the 2g would only put 117hp to the wheels stock, compared to the RSX type S that puts 158hp to the wheels stock, and it is alot lighter then a 2G.

xhypno I don't understand what you're trying to say.

The RSX type S is light as hell, Weight: 2766 lbs vs my 92 GSX at over 3100 lbs.

with 200 HP from the factory plus any mods he will have, he'll absolutely kill an N/T DSM. My point of my post was its even a challenge for a mildly (very mildley) modded turbo DSM.

But that's the beauty of the 4g63, the engine just has so much potential. I'm eager to take on my friend again cuz I'm positive the outcome won't be the same.

so which are you racing? you said your friend has a type s which runs low 15s to start then you say the rsx is only running 16s.

xhypno- could you try explaining ivtec again, only the "1st" part though, it didnt make any sense.
 
hey the rsx in scc didn't get 20 hp from an intake it got 13. 13 hp to the wheels is amazing from just an intake.
 
We have a 2003 RSX type S in the crew with full CAI (AEM) and Full exhaust (Tanabe) and he would rip up any non turbo DSM. We were wondering abot my boi seans 90 TSI (no mods, just boost control) because the TSI is a lot lighter right? Garrett lost to a GSR with lots of work, and only raced a few times since then but a stock RSX Type S has over 200hp, no way a non turbo can keep up, thats my oppinion. (Unless you got a TON of work)

Anyone know the weight difference of a 2ndGen DSM compared to a new RSX?

let me the first to say, whoever believes about that 20hp gain on intake alone for the rsx is a MORON!!! the only way you can get a 20hp gain on an intake if you already have a car with 500hp with a stock air intake system and wanna replace it with an aftermarket intake.. or if you have an imported veilside intake with 100m tb attached to it, then you'll get more than 20hp..any rsx will be lucky if they can get more than 12hp with an intake, headers and full cat back exhaust...maybe an extra 6-8hp if they replace the cat with a testpipe..

and to the guy with the gsx... you said your car is stock?? like absolutely nothing done to it?? cause if so, you said you're running 15lbs?? say goodbye to the engine pretty soon.. your limit is 14lbs on stock internals..

and back to the story...rsx will take it, cause it has a closer gear ratio and more power..
 
I thought it was something like 20HP gained from intake, but someone corrected me as 13HP to the WHEELS. Yes, it was dyno tested and they have the charts to prove it. So there's no sense in arguing about that.

And about my GSX, 15 lbs of boost is NOT going to kill my engine. Plenty of people run in the 17lb range on stock internals and never have any problems. I've been running 17 lbs the past couple months. Maybe I'll eat my words eventually but it won't be any time in the near future.
 
the results of the intake is true as shown in Import tuner power pages. the intake was an Injen intake. on a stock rsx and it did produce some healthy horse power due to the restricted nature of the stock one. i think it was like a 20 hp gain on the dyno.
 
please post a link to this hefty "20hp" gain with an intake alone..
i would like to see what other bs those guys at that magazine had to write..

Yeah I agree with him I'd like to see a site about 20hp off the intake because unless the stock intake was the size of a straw with an airbox the size of matchbox on the end that was almost air tight I do not see how it could get 20hp off of just an intake.
 
Last night my friend with the 2003 RSX Type S (AEM CAI and Tanabe Exhaust) vs a GST with 16G Turbo, intercooler, etc. I dont know how Garrett dd it but he kept up till 4th gear. Ya think the guy with the GST wasn't fully on it or what? I know the GST owner and he always puts everythign into every race. Maybe he's got turbo lag or something? Still damn impressive.

My point, if Garrett kept up with a modded GST, there is no way a non turbo can keep up with the RSX
 
4g63ownzu, I understand why you don't believe 20HP from an intake is possible. I had a hard time believing it myself until I raced one myself. But there ARE dyno charts to prove it. In addition I searched the web and finally found the article from Import Tuner where they dyno tested a base RSX, then added exhaust and intake. Here's what I found:

2 Injen Intake 181.1 15.2 129.6

So all those 1G Motors that have gone 11'a and tens on stock bottom ends are aonly running 14PSI?:rolleyes:

15PSI is the limit on a STOCK FUEL PUMP to be safe. Upgrade that and whatever boost fuel cut allows, stock 1G internals a VERY strong.
 
i would love to see a STOCK dsm boosting more than 14psi and hit 11's...

lets put the puzzle together

more than 14psi going into the engine + stock fuel pump, injectors = more air than fuel =engine damage/poor performance

ok, now, is it possible to run 12's, maybe 11's with this setup?? sure
is it good for the engine?? no
so far, have i've seen it at the track?? no and never will cause no one smart will do something like this...

now i know 1g's internals are strong, crank is very strong, but under heavy loads, especially when we're talking about engine being STOCK and then BOOSTING HIGH, we can be talking about bent rods..

LOL, this is getting too funny. you're telling me I'm going to bend my rods boosting 15 lbs on the 14b. Please explain how 4G63's are capable of handling 450HP on stock internals? I appreciate you trying to give me mechanical advice but you're severly misinformed. The fuel pump without being rewired is good up until 16 lbs, and the injectors (450cc) are fine. By the way 15 lbs is not "BOOSTING HIGH". My 92 was boosting 11 lbs stock, with no boost controller. 4 lbs more boost and my motors going to blow up!!!!!!!! :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
 
i'm speaking from experience dude.. dont hold your breath..
and i'm not saying one run where you boost more than 14psi will you destroy your engine, i didnt say that.. i said it "CAN" lead to bent rods.. its a great possibility...i know a 4g63's internals are strong..

i did have a 92 tsi last year...ran a 12.2 on stock internals and running 12psi.. but hey, i guess you got all the good luck... good luck dude and be careful...
 
ok dude, lets see..first thing i did was rip the whole interior out, i only had one seat and that was the driver seat...

as far as mods..
