On the pulley side of the car, my car drips about a 50 cent piece size of oil onto the ground. I just noticed this tonight but it could be the cause of my oil dissappearing for the past few months. I figured the car was just consuming it (about a quart or 2 every 2 months), but I checked around the area I parked and noticed more dried oil from where I had it parked previously. I havent seen the car actually drip but the spots show up around the line where the radiator drain plug is.. Of course its not antifreeze, but that is the line where I find the spots.. so possibly behind that? Please help and thanks in advance.

Also, I have had a lot of problems with my car for the past 2 months, radiator, popping suspension, oil leak.. I appreciate all who have tried to help me.

Well, it should be leaving a trail up to where it's coming from.

I pinpointed the leak to be coming from around the middle of the engine on that side.. From the ground it looks like the oil pump must be leaking.. How hard is the oil pump to replace on these cars?

i have the same leak on my car right now, i too thought it was comming from my oil housing, but its not. when you are driving down the road it just splashes onto it and whaen you stop, all you see is the oil on the housing dripping off. check to see if your t-belt is wet . if it is, then its a seal inside the timing cover.
mine leaks about 2 quarts a week. just dont have cash to fix it yet

I dont but I will buy it, I read online that I would need the special tool. As for the leak, I will find it tomorrow or Sunday, I just assumed oil pump because that is where the drip looked like it was coming from. I will find out. Thanks for all the help guys, I'll definitely keep you posted and need more help haha.

So I found more than I bargained for.. I jacked the car up today and found a few leaks. The oil sending unit is wet, the oil sensor or whatever is wet, the oil pan gasket is wet all the way around, and I am led to believe the oil pump seal is leaking too.. The timing belt is wet slightly on the actual belt, but there is no noticeable leak on the camshaft seal so I think its either the oil pump seal or something else getting oil on the belt. Any thoughts on any of this? Also, when I go to replace all this stuff what else should I replace while down there.

Here is my list of stuff I am replacing..
the timing belt, water pump since I will already have everything torn apart, oil pump (is there a gasket for this???? or do I just use RVT gasket), oil sending unit, oil pan gasket, and the oil sensor down there.. I'm not quite sure what sensor it is but its the one near the oil sending unit, it was kind of dark and my flashlight kept giving out.

Anyone know of some good deals on any of these parts. I am skeptical to trust ebay, any vouches?

Sorry to bump my thread but does anyone know where to get an oil pump for a reasonable price. What is the quality of the topline ones on Ebay, and does the oil pump for our car come with a gasket? I didnt see one. Same goes for the oil sending unit, I cant find one for under 100 bucks.

Also, since I will be replacing all this stuff would now be the best time to get an afx udp.. I been thinking about getting one for a while and since I will have the whole car torn apart.. I figure I could knock out 2 birds with one stone.

Try the zone they a melling for $93.99 with a 1 year warranty. Can't beat that deal.... The only company that sells af/x udp as far as I know is Howell Automotive; I tried looking at other venders on the af/x web site and found no UDP's. Unorthodox is the same quality as af/x and u don't have to wait a 10 years for Howell to ship it to you. Why are you changing your OPSU? Is it bad, if it still works just put thread sealer on it.

I assume it still works other than the leaking seal.. There is no light thrown or engine code, so I assume it is working properly.. The knock sensor? though, Im just gonna drop the 20 bucks and get a new one.. Thanks for the recommendations.

The sending unit is only 10 bucks?!?! I couldnt find it for under 100.. crazy, I will go up there and see about getting both an oil pump and OPSU then. Thanks guys

Any thoughts on the TopLine brand oil pump on ebay? I have heard mixed results, Defiant said they are ok in a different thread, but some people claim to have numerous problems with them.

I also have alot of oil driping from the timing side of the block somewere. i cant pinpoint it because everything is just saturated with oil. however< i figure it leaks about 1 quart a week, but the wheel asembaly and the inside of the rim are completly coated in oil as well, as i drive down the road at first i smell this oil burning smell, then white smoke comes out of the exhaust, but only when the motor is cold, i figured the smoke was a head gasket problem, but i cant seem to figure out were that smell or the oil is coming from, any ideas?

I would go with a Melling Oil Pump.

It might not be the pump. It is probably seeping out from the back of the block where the bedplate/main bearing girdle meets the block. The Factory service manual has a misprint in where the anaerobic sealant should go and instead of going around the outside of an oil passage back there, it goes around the inside. After a while the o-ring that is placed in there with crack or seep and the anaerobic sealant isn't there to stop the oil seepage. If this is the problem, the only way to fix it is to pull the engine and tear off the bedplate....:notgood:

wow that would suck!!! is this a comon acurance or does it rarley happen. if i have to pull my motor again im gona be pissed! i already had to do it once because slowboy raceing forgot to put in my rear main seal befor they shiped it to me:beatentodeath:

Lets just hope it isnt that then, I dont have the tools to pull my engine.. however, the seeping I see looks like it is coming directly from the oil pump, not the back of the engine.. more like the side. We will see though. Gehh..

it would most likely look like you're dripping oil from your oil filter if it isthe bedplate....
