Ok, I have a spare motor for my build and need to order new main bearing. I am not sure what year the motor is and was wondering if someone had a picture of the the offset notch in the 95 main bearings or some kind of visual way for me to look at what I have and compare it to what I will need... Hopefully that made sense.

I just want to make sure I get the right bearings.

Thanks,

Aaron

Ok, well here is a few pictures of what I have right now since I am home from work. Hopefully someone can tell me if these are 95 Mains or not because I have a big order to put through MAP and am waiting on which bearings I need.

Without having ever disassembled a 95 block myself, I unfortunately can't tell you for sure. I can tell you, though, that the 96+ blocks are both far more common (for obvious reasons) and that if the block came from a non-DSM, the 95 blocks will have a hole cut into the vent shelf, whereas the 96+ doesn't.

Good news it that the 95 block can be cut yourself to fit the 96+ bearings, so you can't really go wrong with getting the 96+ bearings.

Sorry I couldn't offer more specific help, and I hope this is adequate.

Good luck with your build. :thumb:

Thanks for your help Locke. I hate pming the wisemen, but I don't want to miss MAP's sale as they may be giving me a good discount for doing such a big purchase and I also was hoping to get a jump start on this before it got too cold outside.

According to Star Turbo Talon over on 2gnt I can buy two sets of 96-99 bearings and use 2 grooved halves and have a 360 degree oil groove instead of the 180 degree on 96-99 mains. I don't know if he was joking or not (hopefully not since he left me no indication of it not being serious), it seems logical enough to me though. If he is correct I will probably end up going that route, another $70 is nothing in the grand scheme of the build...

Thanks again,

Aaron :dsm:

Terry wasn't joking, that is a relatively common method.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, I have been very busy lately, and don't have the time to get on much lately.
