hey guys i have few questions about safc 2 controller.. do i reli need one ?? wut is the porpose of it?? if i take it off my car will that make a difference to it?? im new to boosted 420As so im trying to learn about it

search is your friend! and yes you need some type of fuel managment, weather low end like safc or high end like aem EMS

Need2boost, look where you are posting, 420a forums.
Style, the safc is basically usless on the 420a. The safc taps into the map sensor and when under boost your missing link/FCD alters the map signal. So the only time a safc is useful on a 420a is when out of boost, other then that it can't do anything for you.
Due to that most people don't use them.

If you are hitting fuel cut, it is due to the map sensor sending out too much voltage to the ecu.
That basically means your FCD/missing link (which ever one you have) isn't doing its job.
The FCD usually needs to be tuned slightly so if you didn't adjust it that is probably why. And the missing link is known for it's failures.

No, it will allow the factory ecu to control fuel out of boost, which is fine.
When boost kicks in the map sensor signal is altered by the FCD (or soon to be FCD)
So the ecu doesn't see boost. That's why you have your Fmu to raise fuel pressure so you can get more fuel. So as long as you have a Fmu (perferrably 12:1) you are fine.
Fyi, fmu = fuel managment unit.
need2boost is right, you need some kind of fuel managment but safc isn't the right thing for your application.

You dont 330's yet. Your stockers will be fine for awhile, He has 330's because he has a SFMU and can control them.. With a basic FMU you can not control larger injectors

Well im running 10 psi on stockers and a 12:1 FMU with a Walbro 255hp.

Anymore than that and you really need to starting building the motor, What are your goals for your car?

Well 10psi wont put you in the 12's, Maybe high 13's.... If you look at my mod list i have a VERY built motor but am still running 10psi. The reason? Tuning. I am waiting for the pnp Mega Squirt then my car will become a beast. I am hoping for atleast 12.9x and im guessing its going to take around 20psi with my 20g to get there, But thats with my cams and race head and everything else. Sounds to me like your best bet would be to set it at 7 psi and then only if you have a wideban turn the boost up until it starts leaning out wich for me was 10psi, Then just drive it like that til the pnp Mega Squirt comes out to where you can tune it then start cranking the boost up.

well my motor is build i just want figure out my fuel system and 10 lbs thats kinda wut i wanna run daily but i would like to have a 13 or may be high 12 sec car

you're going to need a lot larger injector than stock and either megasquirt or a portfueler. Can you get there other ways, sure but those are the preferrable methods.

The reason you can't run stock injectors with a fmu is because the fmu doesn't control idle fuel pressure. The ecu doesn't realize your running bigger injectors so you have 330cc and it thinks there 190cc and your ending up with waaay to much fuel.
A sfmu let you control idle fuel pressure which allows you to drop fuel pressure so your not getting as much fuel per injector pulse.

Carguy; 10psi is really pushing it with a 12:1 fmu. It sounds like you have a wideband but really keep an eye on it. I'm curious as to what your afr is under boost? Most people stop at 8psi with a 12:1 fmu.
Edit: After looking over your profile I believe the reason you can run 10psi on that setup is due to your 7.5:1 pistons.

MSnS is a standalone Ecu. It is the setup everyone would like to have but not everyone wants to go through the trouble.
MSnS requires a 1:1 fpr, large injectors, alot of knowledge, and alot of time.
And PnP still isn't simple, all it does it get rid of the easiest part, wiring.

Style; I got a quote for MS-1 3.57 PCB fully assembled with ignition control, 12' wiring harness, and sensors for about $500. Agian this is fully assembled. Compared with a AEM EMS that runs around $1300.

Reading on these sites will provide you with lots of information on MS.

My afr's are about 11.5 under WOT,

And yes i often wonder if my 7.5:1 helps.....

If you read what i posted i told him to start at 7psi and IF he has a wideban maybe push it a little more

yeah dont really hear to much about people using a safc2 on a 420a but u definately will need fuel management once you start upgrading your fuel system to acomodate more boost or power.

thanks guys for all the info :thumb:

im gettin AEM wideband pretty soon...well im ganna order it next week and im probablly ganna end up gettin that MS

but i have a question how hard is it ganna be to install ??? im guessing im ganna have to go get it tuned somehwere ?? and how big of injectors can i run wit it ?? and im guessing im ganna have to get a fuel rails since my stock one probablly wont cut it LOL

rstare im interested in that deal :p give me more details
