hey guys i have a 98 eclipse gs 420a motor getting no spark replace crank sensor and cam sensor and coil but i tested a few wires and the wires going to the coil have no power going threw to the coil... what could be the issue is the ecu fried because i dont get no check engine light when key is on.. or can it be the asd relay...

Probably isn't the ECU - for all the talk about ECU's "dying" it usually ends up to be something else. Did you check the power transitor for the coilpack yet? Also, make sure your crank and cam sensors are properly hooked up.

I would look into these kind of things before you spend money on a new ECU, unless of course you can get a loaner from a friend.

Not sure about 2G's, but is there a fuse he should be checking similar to the 1G's?

i checked fuses resisters and coil. instaled new cam sensor and crank sensor and all plugged in properly. not sure if i fried the (ASD) automatic shutdown devise relay or the ecu .. had check engine light when key was on the on position then went out like it was supposed to..... then my battery jumped and grounded since then i havent had a check engine light ... COULD I HAVE FRIED THE ECU? OR COULD IT BE CAUSED BY THE ASD RELAY?

well today i finally fired up the eclipse my ecu was fried i put a new 1 in and it started but now it idles very high and sometimes bounces like a vacum line isnt on .but all are attached and when trying to start it takes a few cranks what could that be

Also check your timing some people used to have problems with the cam dowel pins breaking. Causing the same symptoms

dowel pins are fine so are u saying i might have to pull the motor out again to redo the timing belt.. if i dont have to pull it can u explain how to do it while in the vehicle

Timing belt can be (and usually is) done with the engine still under the bonnet.

well thats a little bit of a relief that i dont need to pull it out again i just did a full build on it and i see the timing belt i put on wasnt lined up right.... the car idles anywhere from 3k to 5k then goes up down up down like a honda when u unplug a vacum line what is the best way for me to do the timing belt ?

if you dont know how to do it at all or dont wanna get your ahnds dirty obviously take it to a shop or a friend that does know

see i just fully built the motor from the ground up and when i put the timing belt on i think my tensioner went bad so i just got a new 1 today but i wasnt sure if it would be easier just to pull the motor again to do it or if it could be done in the car thanks guys

working on it this weekend i will let everyone know how it goes

got her running she feels strong drives smooth just working a few kinks out of her
