I just got my car back up and running, but I'm having overheating issues... The temp gauge climbs 3/4 from the top, my egt is only reading about 900 degrees (F)? I have two fans on the radiator and it is a larger radiator than stock so I know the radiator is fine (eventhough it is a half size it's two rows). Below is a old picture of the engine bay, but I was wondering if I need to route the top raditor pipe further away from the turbo.... It kind of is touching the o2 housing...

Does it look like the heat from the turbo is throwing off the temp gauge? Once boosting a little the gauge won't drop down, even with the heat at full blast and the egt only reached a max of 1200 (F). I already burped the coolant system so there are no air pockets. Any ideas?

Oh and I am not running a thermostat... had overheating problems before and by removing my original thermostat, cooling went down greatly....Just thought I would throw that in if it matters. Thanks!

Jeeeeez. That coolant piping is ghetto as hell. Either way, you should redo that entirely, imo. It's certainly not helping the situation. Even with such a small radiator, you should still be running the thermostat. Log the temps to see what they're actually running, rather than counting on the fail gauge in the IP.

It could just be that the smaller radiator is incapable of maintaining proper temps during the summers we have out here. If you can see the temps are stable at this hotter temp, it's not ideal to continue to run at that kind of temp, but at least you know things are relatively under control.

Even so, figure out a better resolution to the coolant flow issue. Could be as simple as having an elbow welded to the upper on the radiator and running the pipe right along the radiator. Having it actually make contact with the turbo is a really bad idea...
