what is the best spark plug to use on a 420a?

The NKGs are what you should be using. If you think it's a spark plug problem, check your gaps.

ya I got to BooksAMillion like every week and read the magazine like import tuner and stuff and one of them had a comparison and I think that gained like 2HP and 1 TQ from it.

But at 25 a peice I dont think its worth it, youd get more from chainging your oil xD
or better run Mobil1 or Eneos:D

i run Royal Purple and K&N oil filter and i feel i huge difference. no lie. feels like i gain 20hp everytime i change the oil

NGK BKR-6 for non-turbo, gapped to .045ish
NGK BKR-7 for turbo, gapped to .028-.030

ya I still run Dino -Oil:( kinda scared to switch over to synthetic, even tho they have syns for cars with high milage. (147xxxK)

but anyways. I went to BAM today and picked up a magazine and saw a AD about the Pluse Plug and apperantly Modified, the magazine, made 11HP over platinum plugs on a 350z.

now thats a a 350z so for ours cars,420a, id say that about 3-4  sadly

Say it with me "Pla-ce-bo". You are seriously gaining negligible power from changing out dirty oil.

well unless he used to use like GTX or something then went to Royal Purple.
IM 99.9% sure oil filters dont add any performance so maybe......HES USING SLICK 50!ROFL

Do not waste your money on gimmick Pulstar plugs. Is 2 hp really worth $100 to you? You could pull your spare tire for free and be about the same.

i run NGK's in my GSX, but by buddy has the 420a motor in a 97 GS and his setup is MSD distributor/ MSD wires/ Pulstar Plugs....let me tell you it runs mad good....another thing with the Pulstar its not only the power but its the amount of gas mileage you are saving. instead of burning half of the fuel it spark is powerful enough to burn the fuel all the way thru.

ok seriously what the heck are you doing???? not using synthetic oil???? can i ask who would be scared????WTF i used to run with mobil 1 until they announced that their oil was not 100% synthetic anymore because of the costs of oil.:notgood: thats when i switched to ROYAL PURPLE....let me tell you seriously it felt like i rebuilt my motor. huge difference!!!!:thumb: my buddy switched to royal purple in his 08 civic si and he car catch 3rd (spin thru 3rd)....i also switched to a K&N oil filter. after reading all day on forums peps talked me into this setup....i know that youll be happy with the setup even i know that haters will say different even tho they havent even tried it!!!!!:beatentodeath:

royal purple + k&n oil filter + pulstar plugs + msd wires

Didn't know we were playing GT4 where when you change the oil on a used car you make 20 more hp

ROFL whether you burn all the fuel or shoot raw fuel out your exhaust, one way or another it's still gone, you aren't improving your gas mileage with spark plugs.

you should probably just :shhh:... next I assume you'll support the ebay resistors that you wire into some sensor to give your car a 20% horsepower increase.

also, I used a K&N oil filter once. you know how extreme my hp gain was? so extreme I realized I spent like triple the cost of the other oil filters to have a K&N logo under my oil pan, that's it. nothing more.

actually you do get better gas milage with better plugs, why do you think when you do a tune up on your car you switch all the filters and plugs? it helps you get better fuel milage, and if you use a hotter buring spark it burns the fuel more completely witch will increase your milage.

Actually the reason you get better gas mileage after a tune-up is because you are putting new plugs, filters, and such in in place of the old ones. After time, things start to wear out, plugs for instance, and don't work as well, ending in the car slowly getting worse mileage. So when you do the tune-up, you are actually bringing everything back to where it is supposed to be. End result, you get "better" gas mileage, which is just what you should get with the correct parts.

K&N filters do work well though...I could tell the difference in my AWD right after installing it...just seemed to run better. Not like the damn things goin to increase HP, but the shit works!

This thread makes my head hurt.

Unless the spark is blowing out with conventional plugs, a "hotter" spark will have no contribution to power or economy. With that said, a hotter spark will allow you to run wider plug gaps before blowing out, which can lead to a fuller burn. Economy and power may raise ever so slightly because of the larger gap, but a hotter spark alone will do nothing. You'll need a dynamometer and long-term (months worth, at the least) mileage data to to measure the differences.

If you notice a dramatic difference in power when changing your oil, you may have damaged lifters. Running a high quality synthetic versus well used dinosaur oil can net a couple ponies, but the butt-dyno won't notice this. The biggest difference between oils of the same weight is their ability to withstand breakdown, and how well they keep particulates sustained.

appeartobelosin: 420'a don't have distributors.

NGK plugs without a doubt, and K&N filters due work better than the rest but do not increase power. They simply filter better thus running cleaner oil more consistantly
