I found a deal on a bottom end for a neon but the pistons are diffrent apparently in neon motors that are sohc then in the dohc engines. I need to know if running crower 2's on built sohc block with weisco pistons and not suffer fom valve tapping anything like that. I have crower srpings and retainers so I wouldn't have to worry about valve floating or anything but from what I have read the sohc block pistons don't have valve reliefs which is what prevents the valves from hiting the pistons.

u will have lower compression becasue u will be running the sohc pistons with a dohc combo chamber :thumb:

When sohc neons guys want a little more compresion they have the option to throw dohc pistons in there engine for a little more........ and when dohc guys want to boost there engine then they have the option to throw sohc pistons in there engine to lower the compression a bit.

Well the pistons are 10:5:1 pistons so what your saying is that I wouldn't have to worry about valves hitting just compression?

also what compression does this built block have? i heard some where that stock to stock going from a dohc bottom end to a sohc bottome end on a dohc car there will be approx a 3% power loss because of the drop in compression.

i never heard anything about the the no valve reliefs being a problem with the dohc head though........... at least with stock cams.

It has weisco 10:5:1 pistons and I have crwer stage 2 cams. My question is will crower stage 2 cams and the no valve reliefs cause a problem?

i know there are no valve reliefs in the stock sohc pistons but i would think the weisco 10.5's would have valve reliefs for the guys that are running bigger cams with there sohc cars u know. anyways im looking into it right now for you.
