He's not looking for parts directly just which parts he should buy to go with what he has. If this is a 420a(non turbo) motor Crower stage 2's seem to be the best overall cam when it comes to accomidating for a vast array of setups.

Edit: nvm paul edited his post so I guess it said something diffrent before.

well if he's tight on money, then cams aren't really an option.

With Stage 2 cams (by crower or crane), your going to need springs and retainers as well.

Either way I say go with the crower stage 2 cams.

Well since were talking cams and gears and what not what do you think of these cam gears?
I did not want to make a new post because this is the same subject.

They're just basic knock off cam gears. With something like cam gears it's not untill you go to adjust cam timing does it really matter what kinda gears your using. If you don't plan making any changes then it's not worth it they just look good.

Why did it say increases Horsepower and torque without any cam changes?
Is this just for show then? Say i wanted to get the glass case like blckspool has then i should go with these to make it look pretty.

They're probably lighter and so they figure less rotating mass more power but the rotating mass of a cam is not holding back performance like say a flywheel or something mor vital like that to actual drive train loss. You might gain 2whp max from a lighter cam gear but I doubt it. If you dyno tune it or atleast use something with a hp estimater where you can see gain and loss threw diffrent settings then go for it especialy for that price and you'll look good too. But if performance is a factor and your not gonna adjust the gears don't bother. By all means I understand some people just want to look good that's hwy they make show cars. If you just want to look good heck 10 bucs or whatever isn't gonna break you especially if your due for a timing belt change.

Just a heads up. Here's what pretty can do :notgood: ( I stole these off a Neon board of an Avenger with AEM cam gears).

I have run nothing but Aem cam gears on my cars. Right now I have a set on my crower 3's. I have had no problem with them. I do understand that a few have had a problem. I would be even more apprehensive of using off-name, E-bay cam gears.

As for the claim of more horsepower, there are lots of products that make claims that just aren't true (or they doctored or manipulated the results to get what they want). While Slippi does make a point of the lower rotating mass, I suspect that they just said "it is so".

Well, somebody has to test them. Maybe I'll purchase a pair when the wife lets me spend money. If they don't break, great. If they do, it would be a great excuse to build the head. (then the Mrs. will have to let me do head work, as this is my daily driver. :sneaky:)

OUCH!!OMG

Yeah I'm not a big fan of teh idea of all those wholes in the middle of the cam gear it's just asking for trouble just to save maybe a pound:confused: I have AEM gears I'm putting on my crower 2's and they def don't have all that space in the middle they're prettu much solid except the cover slider which you use when you want to adjust the gear. By the way am I right in assuming when you move that cover so that it's pointing at like -1 or just left of zero that your retarding that gear well actually cam one degree?

Yes do that and let us know if they work.
:tease:Guinea pig away. jk

Crower 2's are real nice but you will need the crower springs. You are not required to run the titanium retainers though. My head had standard retainers with crower springs and Crower agreed it wouldnt be an issue. Car ran that way for a few years.
