I got a new header today and cant seem to get off thoes 2 bolts connecting the downpipe to the cat off my car now??? i tryed it all, and cant get them off is there something i dont know. My friend said they weld thoes on there but i dont know if that is true. any suggestions or previous experiences?

They are probably really rusted on there. Use a lot of PB Blast on it to see if that helps and use air-tools if possible. If that doesn't work out for you, take it to an exhaust shop and have them torch the bolts off. That's what I had to do with my car.

so i heard of pb blaster working miricals, to bad thats not how anything on my car works:mad: . now both bolts are stripped and i cant fit a drill in there because the cat is in my way............ anyone know what i can do now?

If you have an air hammer, you could try to knock the ends of the bolts off. When I was younger and even more broke than I am today (read: no tools) I used a hacksaw for jobs just like that.

Stripped or rounded off?

Rounded off means you've just got to get a big breaker bar or an impact gun (which would have helped out a lot from the beginning), a SAE or metric socket that will fit over them, beat the socket on w/ a hammer (if you use Craftsman, you can bring them back and give the puppy dog eyes and get new ones!), and pop them off. Hard fast hit's are what you want, not progressive torque like you're putting on a head bolt.

Stripped means cutting it off.

i decided to take to to a professional and have them torch off the bolts. header is on and working now, thanks for the posts

next time, break out the sawzall. it worked miracles when I had to get mine off. ofcourse I didnt put anything stock back on. I reaplced the entire exhaust at once. But enjoy the new header. Hopefully you used a new gasket.
