I tried to research but no luck, probably tired after work..eh..but..

I'm rebuilding my 420a soon, just for the sake of wanting to keep my 95 420a talon alive.
currently 180k+ miles and running.. major rear main seal leaks, oil pan leaks, horrible idle surge ( haven't fully gone thru the DIY idle surge problem article, still working on it )..but basically I wish to just get a reworked long block in there..

I don't really plan on putting the actual block together or in the vehicle due to the fact im not mechanically inclined to attempt to..

as far as the block goes, just looking at just getting another bare block and rebuilding from scratch, this time around eagle rods,JE pistons 10.5:1, oem bearings, oil pump, remanu crankshaft, unorth crank pulley, and of course the usual boring the cylinders for the .020 pistons.. Please correct me if I sound stupid..

as far as the head goes, my question is oem valvetrain, am I limited to stock profile cams with an OEM valvetrain?

Simple answer, no. Qualified answer, maybe. Depends on the choice of cams. If you get something with a radical lift or no-step duration you will need to upgrade everything. If relatively street, then probably not.

Just for an example, I am running crower 2's with stock springs and retainers. I run up to my cut (about 7800) with no problems (and 7200 miles on the rebuild). I took the same set-up to 8500rpm for a little bit, until my AFX/ECU goofed up on me and brought cut to 7800. But I am using stainless valves because I always rebuild with stainless.
