I have posted this in the turbo conversion but it does not seem to be catching on. I would like to know what makes the PT rockers and lifters for the head a better buy than stock? If anyone can add incite or comment to this question I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The only reason i would recommend PT Cruiser Lifter/Lash Adjusters and rocker arms is if you had to rebuild your head. The only real advantages of them is they are a little stronger than there eclipse oem counterpart, and have larger oil porting to reduce lifter tick. I have heard rumors though, that even after the replacement your still going to tick. I believe unless your planning on running alot of boost and high rpm's then your money is best spent elsewhere because otherwise your oem parts can easily handle what you throw at them.

i know this post is a little aged but there are no replies. hope this helps.:thumb:

This is true. Reducing the "tick" is a function of providing better oiling at the rocker arm.

Can't say I've ever heard anything to back that up. If people upgrade to PTC liters and still get "tick," I'd be willing to bet they just replaced them without having the head cleaned up, in which case, they probably have carbon build up on the valves somewhere, which can be mistaken for lifter tick. A Seafoam treatment can help remedy this situation.

Eh....? Okay. I guess I'll give you that one. Although I would add that the main reason why people upgrade to the PTC lifters/rockers is for when they are going to be running a "stage 2" cam, as the increased lift and duration will be putting increased strain on the valvetrain. In addition to upgraded valve springs, rockers and lifters are part of a well-thought-out, comprehensive build of materials. Caveat: Titanium valve spring retainers are not chosen for their strength so much as their lighter weight.

Seafoam is great, yes. Maybe the people i heard this from; saying no names (2gnt members), did not clean there head as u stated.

My roomate has ptc lifters and rocker arms which do still tick. Not as bad as my oem eclipse ones though. :shhh:

I didn't say that PTC lifters or rockers had anything to do with weight. I simply added something else to the thread that might be of use to someone finding it during a search in the future.

You deleted a quote tag somewhere in your post. To do nested quotes like this, you take the entire quote that shows up right off the bat, copy all of it, then just delete everything out of it except the part you want to show. Then paste the whole thing over again and do the same for every point you want to address. Each grey box will need to have both tags to work.
