can you do the jeep TB conversion on a 1g?

I was reading up on the jeep TB conversion and was wondering whether it only applied the 2g cars or whether it would work for the 1g as well?

That's not wise. The Jeep throttle body is around 60mm while the 1G throttle body is around 65mm wide. Besides the fact that the throttle body doesn't match up to the intake manifold, you'd essentially be making your car go slower then it already is.

he he thanks, I'm rather new to this car so I still dont know the engine too well (files that fact away) just looking for ways to increase horsepower for an NT without spending a ton of money

Buy a K&N filter, cams from a 91-94 turbocharged DSM and port exhaust mani and intake mani, with the runners in the head.
K&N - $50US
Cams - $50US
Port Job - $Free if you have a die ginder and the bits for porting.
