I am in the process of changing my stock exhaust manifold to my new tsudo headers. But now I cant get the stock downpipe off the car where it meets the cat. how did you guys get it off? There are 2 (what apperars to be studs) holding the pipe to the cat. I need help fast!
 
WD4, to get the rust off, and then get two wrenches and hold one end, and wrench the other, shouldn't be too hard. Although on my car since it was an east coast car, the salt had ate up the bolts so bad, I was forced to get rid of my greddy evo 2 for a cheap ass, because when I tried to put headers on it was rusted so bad we would have had to break it off.

But the wrenches should work, if it doesn't, its a prime time to order a test pipe or highflow cat.
 
WD40 is weaksauce. Go to Autozone and pick up some PB Blaster. It's a powerful penetrating lubricant that makes those old bolts easier to deal with. Make sure the pipe is cold when you apply it, but soak those bolts one night and let them soak. Then hit them again the next night. You should be good to go.

If not, you'll have to cut them off with a wheel and replace them with new hardware. (The cutting is the hardest part. Hardware will run you less than $10.)
 
Wut appears to be holding the pipe to the cat is 2 studs. they are not bolts. how should i get them off by cutting then drilling or is there another way? my aircompressor is not powerful enough to power a cutting-wheel. and i cant buy a new high-flow cat and put that one on if i cant get the old one off.
 
I had this exact problem last week when I was trying to install my Megan racing header. All I did was take a torch and heat the bastard right up so it was red hot then it came out like butter. Give that a try
 
I as well had a problem with those bolts, but I just used a wrench for one side, ratchet on the other and ALOT of elbow grease.

Don't get me wrong, it pissed me off. If you have a cheater pipe it makes the job probably about 50% less painful.
 
breaker bar + grease (wd40, bacon, elbow, etc ROFL ) = your friends :thumb:
 
mine were rusted to hell also, i actually got a high flow cat at the same time i purchased my header, but i torched the studs till they were red hot and they came off easily.
 
I had this problem too. After the heads of both bolts broke off ROFL I had to just drill new holes through the existing bolts, because it seemed the bolts and the cat had welded together.
 
i used a strong ratchettt and a hammer. a few hits and it loosened up
 
same problem here too, grinder with a cutting wheel to get the downpipe off the cat then i had to drill
 
My dad has a 2.5 foot breaker bar and NOTHING can stop that thing.

(My header bolts almost did though) :shhh:
 
i didnt have to much problem with mine. although i had the downpipe and a high flow
cat put in...i jus let the bolts soak in wd40 for awhile and than jus got some bicept muscle into it, once u break it free its not a problem...i only had problems with taking the o2 sensor out...so i spliced the wires and than took the whole downpipe out :thumb:

hmm, such a tough question...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's a high flow cat :thumb:
