Ok I have a serious question. I know there are other threads about what cars we can beat, but I want to know specifically about hondas. I know that we look at them as rice cars and slow, and a few guys I hang out with say that the Honda Community thinks the same thing about us. Are we faster than civic's, accords, preludes?? I just got in a performance group that is a 92 prelude (170hp+) automatic and a civic that is running low 11's or high 10's supercharged on the bottle and everything. I know I cant take the Civic but what about the prelude?
 
Yeah well I just got in the group so all I am thinkin about is performance performance performance. I have a cold air intake and a short shifter and I just got a cat and catback and then I am getting headers Bored Throttle Body and Cylinder Head porting and a few other mods before I go turbo around May Hahn Stage 2, but I was just curious about the whole dsm honda rival on who really is faster when it comes down to it.
 
if you are going to go turbo dont waste your money on a header. you cant use it with one. just curious about the civic, what super charger is he running and what engine does he have. I have never heard of a honda being able to run 10s- 11s with a supercharger and nitrous. the fastest i have heard with a vortech is a 12. so since there is only three superchargers for a civic i dont think he runs a 11. jackson superchargers with nitrous youre looking at 13's, vortech is in the 12s, and the powerdyne isnt even used by anyone that i have heard of. And there is two different answers to your last question, street driven cars the edge goes to dsms, mainly the gsx's. and full out race cars i would give to hondas.
 
Yeah it is a 96 Honda Civic with a Jackson Supercharger and the engine is completly rebuilt. He is Honda certified and has been racing Hondas for years. He has probably put over 20 grand into the car. He is CRAZY FAST and kills Cobra's and Corvettes and a lot of your high dollar cars. Oh and about the prelude, I dont have a turbo that is why I brought the thread to the nonturbo page because I was talkin about racing without the turbos and superchargers and everything....
 
well if you are talking n/t then i would have to give the edge to the lude. and if you friend is running that time with a jackson supercharger then he needs to call jackson racing and ask for oscar, because he is the only person running that fast with a supercharger and oscar would probably be very interested in that guys motor. and just as a comparison 400 hp turoboed hondas barely pull off those times. i am just curious how he got a 200% gain with a jackson.
 
He has more than Jackson, I am not going to make up times for a another person unless they are true. It is a engine fully rebuilt, He probably has all of those little mods you can do once you know a car COMPLETELY inside and out. The guy is like 35 and has truley put his life in these cars. He also has sponsorships and all that stuff, man I am not gonna make this stuff up, epecially about a non dsm. About the lude I probably figured he could take me, but what about nonturbo eclipse and regular civics and accords?
 
First of all, I would put a NT DSM over a stock civic Si any day. I smoked a stock 95 Si (had a fart can, thats it) in my 91 ESi. Preludes are faster, they have good lower end torque, but if he can't drive, I would say with a few small mods, even NA you could at least keep up with him. Unfortunately, 135-140 HP with not alot of torque won't get you too far. Believe me, I feel it everyday. I have my fair share of kills, but I also have a lot of embarrasing losses to cars a TSI or GSX would SMOKE.
 
Yeah I plan on going turbo in around May, Hahn stage 2 and I know I should beat virtually anybody I want to (with in reason) but I think the prelude would be a good race. I would probably beat becasue he is a good driver and probably has a lot of mods that help him also. He has been with the Civic guy for a while and they just asked me to be in their group which is all about performance!!
 
yeah maybe we can beat the old si's but a stock 1999 or 2000 si would kill a stock n/t dsm. if all cars were stock we would loose to a prelude, s2000, and any new si (99 or newer). i think we run mid to high 16's. all of the hondas i mentioned run lower than 16's
 
just to add to my previous statement, a n/a dsm that is stock will loose to pretty much and dohc vtec honda that is stock.

Tell the guy that owns that civic to give you a List/Run Down of what all he has done because im gonna have to agree that he isnt running those times with that charger...

Unless hes got some major cash (20+) into that car and it isnt gonna be normally street driven i think (correct me if im wrong)....

Anyways... Ask a wiseman here... some of em actually know Honda's/Dsm's both...
 
theres no need to ask a wiseman, the biggest pulley made for a jackson is 12lb pulley. i dont care what he has done it is impossible to get that time with a jackson. even if you had nitrous. the reason is the way the jackson boost hits. with the turbo and vortech its a gradual, thats why you get such good numbers, with the jackson its instant. the motor cant hold that much boost that fast.
 
First off we you dont know what kind of boost his motor can handle because you do not know what kind it is or what has been done to it. I am getting a list from him and it should be on tomorrow but I know it will be long and yes it has probably close to 20grand put into it. I am sure he has done things to make not suppose to be street driven but he does take out here and there and scanners track like his every move. A lot of high priced Mustangs and Vetts come from the city and challenge him but leave surprised. Yes it has a lot down time from this and that breaking but he has his own shop and works on it all of the time. Like I said there is no way I am gonna make up crazy times or anything about another guy I am TOO competitive to usually give anybody credit but I have to give him credit. I think the coolest thing about him is that he has like 4 or 5 first generation talon turbo's sitten in his backyard!! Looks like I am in luck for a few parts!!
 
see i was almost believing you until you brought up the whole high priced mustang and vette thing. lets think about this, a high priced mustang in my opinion would either be a saleen or a roush stage 3. both of those do twelves with ease. a high priced vette would be a z06, those do 13s without even trying. so if some one put money into the vette he should be hittin 11s fairly easy. i just dont understand how this guy built an engine that can handle a jackson charger with what has to be 12 lb pulley, with that pulley hes probably on getting an extra 80 hp. the 8lb that they come with only give an si 186 hp to the front wheels. so this guy has it built to put down 220 hp to the wheels, i can believe that, but now you need about oh i dont know 200 more to the ground plus traction to hit that 10-11 quarter. now i dont want to start a whose engine is stronger or anything but honda engines(especially the b series) are pretty dang strong, but i highly doubt strong enough to hold 12lbs of instant boost, not eventual boost, plus a 200 shot nitrous? can we BOOM!!! let me guess this guy has a broom and dust pan in his trunk to pick up the pieces from his block every night.
 
How about we see what the guy has done when I get the list. Yes he does have a shop to work on the car when pieces do break every night, but I guess that keeps him driving. Sorry to break it to you but he does beat Cobra Mustangs and Saleens I dont know how much money they have put into it but I have seen it. I dont know about the fast corvettes but the normal ones he can take. I thought you wrote something about him being able to do 13 with nitrous and a supercharger.... He has put close to 20 grand in the car and you dont think he can get two seconds? Ouch that must really suck being he know all the right people and puts it where it counts and there is nothing ghetto about the car. Too bad your civic didnt live closer he might be able to teach a you little....oh unless you know EVERYTHING abount honda's and Civics already. I will have the mods on the page today and dont think I am being a smart ass when it is a lot.
 
um actually i do know a hell of a lot about hondas, and yes i dont think think you can get two- three more seconds out of that combonation. alright, check it out, oscar jackson, the creator of jackson racing, has won many championships in many different classes with hondas, has a 98 prelude with the biggest blower that he puts out, i believe its the m62, the b series engines gets the m45, only does a low thirteen. just so you know putting a cobra and a saleen in comparison is like comparing a rs to a gsx. i never claimed to know EVERYTHING, just almost everything.:D
 
That is cool, the guy probably knows Oscar. It really doesn't matter to me the guy is fast and that is all it is to it. I will put the mods on when I get them and if you think he can do it then cool if not it is still cool because I really dont care, I know he is fast and I didnt start the thread to argue back and forth with you I could care less. I just want to know about Honda and DSM's in general that is all.....
 
i dont want to sit here and make you think im a punk because im not. the only reason i even read this post was because it was a versus post. but just so you i went over to www.clubsi.com just make sure i wasnt feeding you any bad info. they have a post that is dedicated to jackson superchargers only and the fastest time i have seen is 13.0. i would like to see what the guy has done to that motor and even what motor it is, who knows, he might be running a manufactured h22 block or something. like i said i dont want you to think im a punk causing you problems. i mean to you, you could care less what he has, all you know is hes fast. but to me if you can pull off what no one else can, i want to know.:thumb:
 
Cool I dont think you are a punk, I just kind of thought it got out of hand. I will list his mods and like I said you and him know about them than me and probably know more about eclipses also, but it doesent matter to me. About the Saleens I know a guy with one and he is running 13 so they arent doing 12's with ease and for me there is not that big of difference between a saleen and a cobra, I said high priced mustangs and for my bank account those are both high priced!!! I will have the mods this afternoon.
 
I was in my friends 97 prelude...with stage 2 mods... GAWD DAMN... that car had SOME POWER... put me back in my seat... only a turbo dsm can beat a moded prelude... unless you have a surprise in your trunk... hehehe otherwise just stay off the throttle... *HE MAY THINK YOU WANT TO RACE*
 
I havent read any other replies up above, but asking "what cars can we beat" is kind of a stupid question....the majority of it depends on if you can drive worth a $h!t
 
Actually I am talking more of the lines of equal drivers, but it is okay I just figured you would get that from the question.
 
I have driven a 1999 Civic SI, and I have ridden in Mustangs and Vettes. I like my old RS better than all of the above because the SI is slooowww, until modded; the Mustang has no traction; and the Vette feels soft where it should be hard and hard where it should be soft. An N/A Eclipse, especially 1g, is light and has gobs o torque (for the displacement). If driven with equal mods (dollar for dollar), and you know what your doing, you should be able to beat an SI, as well as Prelude and Accord(I took an Integra on the freeway in my RS, but an older Accord spanked me in the same car). What have you raced so far? What other members are in your club? Have you raced the SI or Prelude?
