:dsm: OK i know it was posted before but i looked for 1 hour and couldn't find it

:dsm: here's my Q.......whats the MOST HP you can get out a 1.8 for under 6000.00 the most...and even if you put a range thats cool to jsut help me out

thnx:dsm: :thumb:

whoops...sorry about that...

I didn't mean to sound like one of those "just sell your N/T and buy a turbo" bastards. I hear it often enough since I own a 2GNT.

6000 bucks is a good chunk of change. Hope you make that 1.8 fast. :thumb:

For 6K you can buy a really big nitrous sytem and jet it to 300hp, You'll only gewt to use it once though so have fun.

I agree with Kalani, check out the 1.8 turbocharger faq. It is very informational, and will connect you with the hp you are looking for.

for 6 grand ill bet you could push very high 100hps, maybe even 200, im just not sure what these motors are capable of with the right tuning. im now considering turbo'ing my eclipse but im not sure of that yet.
hope this was a helpful stab in the dark
peace

well get ahold of a parts manufacturer and replace everyhint related to fuel, engine internals, and engien control and you can run more than 2 psi.

Wrong. My car has been pushing MUCH more than 2 psi for almost 2 months now. It's because of crap like this that the 1.8 community has to wait for dyno sheets before I release any more information on my setup. Tired of defending myself. Try to keep up.

Horsepower isn't about how many PSi you push through an engine. PSi is just a measurement of air pressure in your intake manifold and has nothing to do with how well your head is flowing or how many acutal molecules of air are getting into your combustion chamber. For the record, my motor has been running just fine for the past few weeks on more than 12 psi on stock internals, with the stock ECU. And about to go from 8.5 to 9:1 compression. And it's driven daily.

simmer down there little feller. first off i'd like you to know that i have no idea what setup you're running nor does it really matter to me since i'm not at all in the same boat engine wise as you.

my point was directed to this myeclipse guy. what i meant was that if this guy has the desire to make more than 200hp on the 1.8 he's most likely going to have to replace alot of the stock components. like i said fuel , internals, and how the engine is controlled (be it stock turbo ecu, safc, or standalone) need to be addressed. there's a reason i don't post in many of these 1.8-turbo questions and that's because there are guys like you ginsu who know alot more about the internals, capabilities, and even general info on them than i do. i've driven 1 1.8 and it was a beaten dog of a thing. i'm sure it wasn't representative of 90% of the cars out there even.

i never said anything about psi = hp. although assuming you have the ability to counteract any negative side effects of more pressure it actually does = hp. power has everything to do with how much air and fuel you can cram into your cylinder and how completely you can get that mixture to burn. more air + more fuel always = bigger power. of course more air + not enough or too much fuel = damage or less hp.

Wasn't trying to come off like that. Just a "for the record" on the motor. :) I was actually more pissed off at MyEclipse5, who hasn't got his facts straight. Gives guys like me a bad name.

i feel your pain, that's why although i run a modified 90 longblock i list it as a 91 in my sig on dsmtalk so i don't constantly have to answer how i got my 92 to run an 90 engine.

listen man ..this is where i got my facts

141 at 2psi, on stock internals with the only mods being the manifold, turbo and open element filter. realisticly, I expect to make more than most GSTs, on a more reliable motor.
"
it is in the gallery...so you haven't updated thats not my fault

but anyway do you think i could reach 200hp

just remember, if you're dropping $6k into a car, i hope you plan on keeping it for a while, cuz if in a couple years you decide you want a TSi or GS-T, then you now have a car that you're dropped $6k into and probably won't get anywhere close to that much back when you try to sell it. plus you wouldn't have that $6k for a downpayment on the new one....

But of course, it's your car, so it's entirely up to you.
