Kelowna,
Anyone know what the quarter mile time would be on a stock 1995 Eclipse RS? I'm thinking like maybe 16 or 17?

I have the opportunity to get one at a good price so yea just want to know.

Dont quote me on this but i think the Stock AUTO 95 rs is like 16.9 or something close to 17.

Sounds about right. It might even be higher than that. :( Local guy here runs 16.1 with a MTX (AEM V2 CAI, test pipe, maybe a UDP too).

The RS is awd right??? My Talon has a AEM CAI, an AFX underdrive pulley, and a high flow cheapo muffler and I ran a 15.8 before my clutch started going. Now I run about 16.2 consistently. Course thats a gtech reading which can be about a tenth of a second off.

It's FWD, the GSX/TSi AWD are the only AWD's.

I took out the passenger seat, the rear seat, and the spare tire and ran a 17.5 stock. it was still fun, just rather slow.

Thanks cause I've been kinda confused but whats the difference between the RS and the GS then? But still YOu should be able to run high sixteens shouldn't you? I mean I've only added about 15 horsepower and I've gotten 15.8 (yes I know gtechs probably aren't that accurate though)

There are NO engine differences between the RS and GS. The GS is pretty much a fully loaded car, i.e. Power windows, power locks, cruise control, rear windsheild wiper, power mirrors, cd player, sunroof, the list goes on. Although the RS had most of these as an option, but the GS comes standard with them most of the time. OH and also the GS will have body colored mirrors and door handles, and Side skirts, the RS has black mirrors, and dooor handles, and no side skirts.

Got my base 97 Talon MTX down to 2582lbs with 3/4 tank of gas. Swap the stock driver's seat for a lightweight bucket, and the hood and fenders for fiberglass/cf trim, and you shouldbe able to get the same car to 2500lbs with driver. Lighter if you go with a fiberglass/cf hatch and ditch the important bumper supports. 100lbs = 0.10sec in the quarter. ;)

Keep in mind, this is for the 99 Eclipse, so things light be a little diff. for yours.

RS and GS come with a 16-valve, 2.0-liter dohc engine that produces 140 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. This is a competent package that puts the Eclipse in the same general performance envelope as a Dodge Neon R/T. Buyers get all the style of the Eclipse without the higher purchase and insurance costs of the turbocharged engine.

The entry level Eclipse RS has body-color bumpers, full wheel covers, dual mirrors and a rear window defroster; inside, are woven cloth bucket seats, a full console with dual cupholders, and an AM/FM/CD stereo with four speakers. Option packages allow RS buyers to add air conditioning, alloy wheels, cargo cover, rear spoiler, power windows, power door locks and cruise control.

Eclipse GS, the most popular model in the Eclipse line, comes with low-profile rear spoiler, side cladding, fog lights, 50/50 split rear seat, 16-inch wheels and tires, four-wheel disc brakes and a rear stabilizer bar designed to reduce understeer.

The GS-T and GSX are powered by the turbocharged and intercooled 2.0-liter engine that puts out 210 horsepower and 214 foot-pounds of torque at 3,000 rpm. They are distinguished by a huge rear spoiler, black on white gauges and a higher level of standard equipment.

All Eclipses are front-wheel drive except the four-wheel-drive GSX.
