well experienced intake rigger
today i just finished the third intake i have built for my n/t eclipse, so instead of telling you what not to do (because obviously if im on my third i know) i will tell you what works well.
i took the stock intake and hacked it right before my silencer so i stil have a 90 degree elbow. Then i went to home depot and got a rubber abs adapter that has a 2" opening on one end and a 3" opening on the other and clamped the 2" side to the remaing elbow, right off my throttle body. On the other side i attached 3" black PCV pipe with a 45 degree albow leading more pipe to the mud gaurd right before your front lip. At the end of the pipe i have a metal sleeve that just fits into the pCV pipe( with some force) and left it sticking out about 2 inches to clamp my K&N filter o the end of it. Full cold air. Then i drilled the side of the PCV pipe where your breathr hose is and stuck a threaded valve into it and attached it to my valve cover with a small breaded hose and the stock little fitting. WORKS GREAT, for now. only 20$.
all supplies bought: 10ft black PCV pipe, abs cement, brass valve, 2-3" rubber adapter, 45 Degree elbow, K&N filter(not added to cost of intake).
if ya have any other questions lemme know, ill have pics soon.
