I'm looking to upgrade my throttle body to a 60mm and port the air intake manifold. Will a 1G throttle body fit a 2G Non-Turbo? Would I need anything else besides the throttle body itself, like a 60mm gasket to port with?

ummm there was a thread about the 1g mod not too long ago, it wont fit on a NT. its 2g turbo boys that do that mod. if you get a 60 mm tb you will need to add some material to the intake manifold to gasket match it that big.

swap to a 7-bolt 1g intake manifold and a 1g n/a throttle body. it bold right up and the 1g manifol dflows better. 7-bolt manifolds arent hard to find either.

all 1g throttle bodies have the same bolt pattern fyi

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! OMG no it will not. he has a 420a not a 4g63. do not do that! it will not bolt right up

I was reading that if I port it, 55mm is the ideal size. Is this correct? I found a porting service for $100 that installs a 55mm plate. If I was to port myself, where do I find a 55mm plate? Or how do I make one?

i dont recommend doing the tb yourself. ive heard it is incredibly hard. just send it to howell for $100 and get it bored to 55. im doing that this winter when i port my head and intake manifold.

agreed

Ok if you are going with a 60mm TB here is what you do (Step 1: Aftermarket Cams) (Step 2: Adj. Cam Gears) (Step 3: Port Match the Intake Manifold or buy a new one like OBX off ebay) (Step 4: just buy a Modern Performance 60mm TB)

At least get the cams they will help trust me. 60mm is to big with out them
60mm TB

those arnt necissary are they? i would just recommend 55, 57 at most

Not if you go 56 or 57, But when I went 60mm There was a loss in TQ and man it felt like my car was laggy. I came to the conclusion that stock cams are not aggresive enough for the size of the TB and in the end it is a loss of power. But man I tell you what Thats the way I went before Turboing my car and BAMN after it was like my HP was back plus some. You can really hear a the sucking of the CAI after them steps are done. Turbo is awsome but if you are ganna stay NT that is also awsome will stomp any other NT car around. Also a Light Weight Underdrive pully helps :thumb: And some Juice that will also help ;)

No problem I think he was just giving you some shit, (as in messing around) I dont think he was saying that just to be a dick. If he was he should be banned for being a dick

I will probably send out to get ported to 55mm. What is the best service to do this? Please post link. And does anybody have instructions on porting the cylinder heads? I'm kind of confused as to what they are. They are the cylinders on the intake manifold that connect to the header right? I'd like to confirm that before I ask my next question.

there are a couple of choices on e~bay 1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...ry=33558&item=7918269719&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

these guys send you a new throttle body bored out to 55mm with a new plate, and another good idea are these guys, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33558&item=7917578682&rd=1

you send them your throttle body to 52 mm and put your stock plate back in, plus they powder coat it and ship it back to you in a few days for only 40 bucks

myself i bought a 55 mm throttle body for the first guy yesterday, and i cant wait tell it comes in

Hope i helped

Let me know how that works out. Did you port your intake manifold to match up yet?

you guys are crazy if you think a 60mm will lose torque! I intalled mine and port and polished my intake manifold. I opened the Intake manifold up to 60mm also. I couldn't believe the torque I got. It was so unexpected, it put me back in the seat a little! I'm all for the 60mm! If anyone is from Michigan, I'm pretty good at porting! PM me for more details.

If you would read my post I said a 60mm on a stock Intake Manifold, with stock camshafts and cam gears. You P&P your intake manifold to help with air flow. You are also Turbo, I was talking about when my car was NT. You are right though, you will feel it more if you either P&P your intake our get a OBX Intake or Venom Intake. I still stand by my word get ADj. Cam gears, Aftermarket camshafts, Intake Mani, and 60mm

He's right. I just got my turbo not too long ago. I did the intake work when I was NA.

My buddy put a Venom intake manifold on his 2gnt. He had Crane 0016 cams, Crane Cam Gears, and 60mm TB. His car didn't run that good. A bigger Plenum (spelling?) isn't going to help a NA car. There isn't enough pressure inside the intake manifold when you cam and run a huge intake manifold. I'm not an expert on this, I just know how his car ran. It was in decent shape, but wouldn't idle cause of the intake and cams. I wish we would have read his MAP sensor before he sold it. IMO, stick with the stock Intake Manifold if your NA. Now that I'm turbo, I'm getting a OBX, or custom made one.
