exhaust question-easy bolt on?

heres the scoop-
i want to get a new muffler/exhaust for my 93 eclipse dohc 2.0...i dont want to spend $100s of dollars....i would like to just get a cheap ebay muffler, and bolt it on..i really dont wanna do too much modifying to the exhaust, i would like to be able to just bolt it on there...how far back(to the cat?) would i have to go so that i could just bolt the new system up there? or do i need to weld?? should i buy a cat-back system or could i get away with just cutting the stock one off and welding the new one up there? also, what is the stock exhaust pipe size? i have no experience with exhaust systems, but i do have access to a welder and someone to help me with that..thanks guys.....

Okay all we have is good news if all you want is sound. Just order a muffler 4" tip or smaller cause your exhaut ain't that big. Or just go with a ebay cat-back which is good sound and some more horses. I don't know about 1g but on my 2g I had to replace the pipe at the end of the exhast so the muffler would stick out in the right place. Hope this helps and just get under it and take a look.

Or just go to a muffler shop and thell them to make u a pipe from the cat (or before the cat if u want) all that to the back. ( u just need a muffler to weld on the end).
A friend of mine did it recently on his GS-t 95 for $100 (3" all the way).
Think about it is cheap, and reliable. So, what if it doesn't look good, nobody will see that.
I guess for ur car 2.5" is the way to go for N/A
and 3" or 3.5" for turbo cars.

Correct me if i am wrong.

alright...i climbed under the car today and took a look. I found i just need a short piece of pipe that goes to the muffler...there is the cat, something that looks like a cat, another thing that looks like the cat, a bend, and then thats where it is bolted, and the pipe goes to the muffler...only problem is that the bolts are rusted completely....but it looks like if I can find the right part, some patience, and some help, i could get this job done somewhat easily..

alright i have run into a few problems....first, i was helping my friend who has a 92 accord try to remove some bolts off his cat(replacing exhaust from the cat-back)...and we can NOT get these bolts out...we ground them down, and tried to hammer them out but with no luck...we are thinking of drilling through the old ones after they are ground down, but we arent going very far...are there any special bits we could use??? also, what suggestions do you guys have for my car? any brand that might be good? should i just buy a new muffler from ebay and pay minekie to remove the old one and install the new one so that I dont have to deal with the rusted bolts???
