what turbo for 2.4 spyder?

What would be the best turbo for a spyder... I dont think that they make kits for them..how could I make it work? what would need to be bought? and could a 4G63t turbo go on it and what would that take?

Also what is yall's opinion on gutting cat's? :cool: :dsm:
 
not suer about the turbo part but i knoticed a big increase from gutting my cat, but mine was clogged. id still do it tho :)

turbos are practically universal, its all the other stuff that wont work i rememeber seing a guy with a 3g turbo, i believe its the same engine, hes on the web somewhere look. but you will need the following:

Turbo(of course)
custom manifold
piping
s-afc
oil lines
o2 housing
downpipe
sfmu
intercooler
gauges
MBC
BOV
vaccume lines
all gaskets, studs, bolts, and nuts needed to connect the turbo to the manifold

you will also have to do custom work to the wastegate actuator if you get a T-25 off of a turbo dsm, because they are set at 11-13psi stock, and if your engine is like the 420a, its too much. you either need to change the spring in the actuator or get a remote wastegate with the needed piping.

this isnt an easy venture, i was going to do it, but when i ran into that wastegate problem, i scrapped the project due to a rising cost. i was already around $1500, and for just a little more i could get a hahn kit. and i dont have that money. so i bought a nitrous system instead, and i love it. but if money is no issue, by all means go for it.
 
The stock turbo from a 2G would be way too small for your engine. Hell, it's too small for the 2.0 liter. It would probably run out of steam at about 4k RPM. If you're going to go through the huge ordeal of turboing your car, you might as well do it right and get a decent turbo.

but remember, we cant run as high of boost as you guys, so it wont crap out as early as it does with you guys

True, but generating 6 psi on a 2.4 isn't as easy as 6 psi on a 2.0.

The only reason you can't run as high of boost is because of the compression ratio, not because of the strength of the engine. So I would try to get the most out of that 6 psi as I could, and not waste my time with an extremely undersized turbo.
 
no need for a custom manifold, any manifold for the 2.0 turbo will work on the 2.4. Nearly all the parts made for the 2.0 turbo will work with our cars. To make it easier just go here http://4g64.150m.com/

As for turbos, get either a 14b or a 16g if you plan on sticking with the stock internals, that way with the pressure source hooked directly to the wastegate actuator the turbo *should* produce 7-8 psi depending on what your exhaust set up is.

If your block is built to handle boost then by all means, go with atleast a 20g or bigger

are you talking about engines in general or the 4g64? cuz its the weak rods of the 420a that give out, not cause of compression

Aight, the stock t25 does just fine on the 4g64. I have hybrid 64 since I have the 63 head. I am running 12lb of boost on a t25 and a Turbo XS MBC. Still need to install my Auto GST ECU but all in all, if you want reliability go with the t25. After all, it is stock. When I blow my shit up, I'll tell you guys what not to do.
 
We have built a kit for the 3G 4G64. It uses a T3/T04E turbo and log style manifold. We are going to boost to 11psi and looking for 300whp. The 16G turbo does not have the optimum compressor map for the 64 as the T3/T04E.

The 4G64 has the same rods in the 2G 4G63T, which are good up to about 350hp. We are going to have numbers up by next week. You can email us at [email protected]
