i read about this guy the other day that finally foud out how to stop the TICKING and he said that he alos spilt some of what he used and it shined it up, can someone PLEASE tell me what it was that he used????

Some people say its valve tick, which is common on all dsms, even the 1.8. But sometimes if you are running low grade gas you will ping, causing a clicking noise. Sometimes valve tick can be caused by low oil supply. So rule it out, if it isn't that, then it is just normal valve tick, as things get old they all valve tick.

if it's valve tick, as it most likely is, use a thicker viscosity oil. as engines get older their tolorance get bigger, 'cause of wear. by using a thicker oil, such as sae 30 or 20w50, your oil pump will be able to move more oil to the places it is needed the most...aka the lifters. the reason more oil will be moved is 'cause the oil is less likely to blled past the 'gears' in the oil pump. i have a 96 GS with 120k on it, if i use 10w30 it ticks, but when i use sae 30 or 20w50 it shuts the fu*k up. fyi.. i use sae 30 in the winter and 20w50 in the summer/spring....
