Edmonton,
Hey guys im looking into buying a apexi s-afc v1 off some guy for cheap. Will it make a diffrence in n e thing even though i dont have a turbo? Do u think this is pointless for a non-turbo'ed car? Can i tune with it somehow?? lemme know please and thanks!

Pretty much useless for an NT without some serious engine work. Throw in some nice headwork with stage 2 or higher cams and you'll be able to lean things out at idle (since lumpy cams will #### up your idle from the lower vac levels and the ECU will dump the fuel in there).

sorry, but rather than start a whole new thread i just thought i would ressurect this. will a S-AFC help me out at all? i got aem cai, cat back exauste, UDP, and a nice little 65 wet shot :D . i can get it from a guy cheap too, and was wondering if i could put it to good use? are they even reusable? do you just snip all the wires right after where they were connected to the old cars ecu? thanks

PS i am also gonna get an a/f gauge(somewhat pointless but it couldnt hurt) and an egt gauge to help me tune. thanks

it should help you out some. there isnt really a reason to get an af gauge since the safc has one unless you get a digital one since those are actually accurate :dsm:

Well our cars run rich from the factory. I am running mad rich & i can feel myself losing mpg which costs $$ b/c of gas prices today  .

Yea a afc will help you, you can get one of ebay for $285 shipped, i am sure someone is selling one somewhere for cheaper :p .

Good luck & Happy Modding

That's probably your oxygen sensor needing a replacement. (No one seems to care about the oxygen sensors for some reason). While at part throttle, your oxygen sensor is constantly correcting to give you the best gas mileage possible while still maintaining safe A/F ratios. You don't need to lean out your part throttle mixture.

Honestly, getting an AFC will be no where near worth the money. Even if you do lean it out and make maybe 5 more hp, you're seriously risking damage to you engine. Especially you guys with nitrous.

Even turbo guys don't get one until they get bigger injectors.

so it wont help me at all? by the way im gettig it super cheap so money isnt an issue

even if u get it cheap, remember this should be dyno tuned and i dont know about up there, but here in miami thats about $150/Hour.

What if you were to get bigger injectors, not huge but 240cc's from hahn and then i could see where a afc could play a role and really help you out. I always thought an afc would help out with nitrous kits, apparently i was wrong LOL

I have a S-AFC, and don't listen to anyone that says it won't help a NT. It won't help as much on a NT as a Turbo car, but it DOES help. Our cars run really rich so I turned all the fuel down when I was just normal driving, but I tuned it a little differant when I wanted speed. I noticed a lot more power in the higher RPM's. I have it tuned a little low below 3000 RPM, then I started to make the curve climb as I got in the higher RPM. I deffinatly noticed a differance. I'd get it, you won't regret it.

ya, i want to get it because i can ACTUALLY start tuning, not just bolting stuff on. that would be fun. and im sure i will get some gains from it.

ya i been really thinking about getting one 2 and my friend whos got a turbo talon said it would help my car and my other frient with a 3000gt vr4 said it help more with the more mods you have and i mean u need more fuel with more hp wont this help and i think dyno runs are 40 bucks for 2 runs or something my friend confused me ima have 2 look into it more id like to start tuning too not just bolt on althought bolt on is nice 2. plus in the future ima buy a turbo dsm in a a year or 2 or 3 LOL :laser: :thumb:

$40 for 2 runs!?!? HOLY $HIT THATS CHEAP! Wow, they want $150 for 3 runs around here. They think their awesome though, the shop has a DynoJet Dyno. Its a nice one. If I could run for $40 for 2 runs, I'd run it everytime I did something. God that would be awesome!
