Engine govenor

My 97 talon tsi will not exceed 100 mph's. I know the history of my car before i purchased it.. it had been wrecked twice, i dont know if they installed a govenor or a fuel cutoff, but something is definetly wrong. I know this does not sound right consdering i know many tsi talons that exceed well over 100mph. My rpms are at 3500 when i am running at 100mps. I can smash the gas to the floor.. but the rmps go no where, and the car stays at 100mph. i can slow down to 80 and then hit the gas, rpms peak at 6500 and when it hits 100mph they drop down to 3500 again. How can i fix this? Is there a govenor that i can take off? A chip that i can install into the comp? Help!! i am tired of getting passed after 100mph when i know should be able to get to 140.

finally someone with the same problem as me(well my bro) He has a 99RS A/T with absolutely no mods, andthe same thing happens: petal to the floor, it will get up to and stop at exactly 100mph with around 3-4k rpms tho im not totally sure on that. Ive looked at a few ecu upgrades and such, but people have been telling me there is no engine governor or anything on this car but its very not cool.

disregard this link scrymmer as its for 2g turbo fwd's which use the mitsu ecu, and not for the 2g nt's which use the chrylser ecu under the hood.

Last time I checked, Josh's car was a 97 Tsi, which uses the mitsu ECU. Nowhere in his post/profile does it specify his car being FWD or AWD.

finally someone with the same problem as me(well my bro) He has a 99RS A/T with absolutely no mods

and missed the fact the original poster's car was a tsi. so it will work for his, but not the other guy's.

well still, i have not gotten a straight anwser, and am very skeptical. Maybe u guys will be able to help. I've heard that tires on everything 'cept GSX are H rated, but havent gotten confirmation as to whether they melt at 100+mph or 130mph. I've heard 99RS should go ~120mph, but its just not happening. I guess there is no governor on this car, or at least up until 130 but it doesnt make sense. Please just help clear this up for me. Thank you for you help,

Thanks for the info peeps.. i'd checked out the ECU link.. BADASS... now i just have to find out where and how to get it out... thanks eric for the link.. and to the other dude for helpin... Oh, and i'm glad someone else had the problem besides me.. all my dsm friends where laughin when i told em' my prob. we'll see whats up after i fix it.

You are going how fast on H rated tires?

They wont "melt" at any speed, when you go that fast, the air inside the tire gets so hot that they go "POP!!!!!!" and you die....

Please do not do high speed tests on H rated tires....it just aint worth it.
