okay i Have a 95 GS, and it seems to have barely and power when you take off. all the other gears have plenty off power. the only mod i have is an aftermarket exaust which came on the car when i bought it. it kinda looks like they welded the aftermarket muffler to the stock pipes. cause the tip on it is about a 3" opening and the pipes look smaller. oh and it's an auto, could the exaust be the problem. any help is much appreciated. thanks
 
I don't wanna burst your bubble, but you will never have good aceleration with that auto tranny as long as your n/t.you can still mod your car and t'll still get more power but never as much as a manual tranny.manual trannies loose about 15% of power in the transfer from the engine to the wheels.while auto trannies can loose up to 25 % in the process.someone correct me if im wrong peace.

agreed. manual is the way to go. but i still have a weak 1st gear even with a manual. i hate the first gear. but once i hit second, goodbye! second is so much stronger
 
my third gear used to be what pissed me off i use to run v8's and stay to their sides 1-2 but when i hit 3rd they take me bad. After my headwork and compression increase 3rd is about 90% better.3rd i beleive is the worst with a 5-speed i kind of like my first gear actually.
 
Well thanks for the advice guys, yeah the rest of my gears are fine but it's the take off that sucks. time to find a 5 speed eclipse i guess.
 
ya my 3rd isnt weak. i believe its about the same as my second, at least thats what i feel. but my first is just soooo weak its disgusting.
 
Im just saying when i get beat racing faster cars i can be neck and neck and when i go into third i would get walked when i had just i/h/e but 3rd gear use to not seem to pull as hard as 1&2 third gear pulls nice after my rebuild this spring.
 
I had good pull in first,but I changed my C.A.S without checking my timing and now its a dog! (Slow as hell in first a low R.P.M) But I hope to check my timing in the morning so I will let you know if it helps.
 
Your situation is odd, I have 95 Talon n/t with 5 speed, 1st gear for mine is kind of a rocket, as well as with 2nd, my higher gears is usually my problem :talon:
 
I got a 95 GS. It seems to be slow in first. Second pulls like crazy for a N/T. It also seems to be week up until 3000rpm. After that it pulls better.

do street start races (races that begin at 10 mph), this will allow for ur car to be quick instead of having to worry about how slow ur take off is.

another thread talking about this said our engines are really weak... below 4,000 rpms, so that is probably why our firsts seem really weak and seconds strong. you never go below 4k rpms in second. and to nyte. you cant always plan out to go 10mph to start a race. if the guy next to you launches, and you want a chance, you better damn well launch too, you cant wait till 10mph to kick it. but i agree they seem alot faster... im sorry, quicker, when you start a race from a roll. its all about whos next to you :thumb:
 
My First gear pulls pretty hard off of the line and my second gear follows that pretty well. My third gear is when I start to pull away but once I hit 4th I start losing a lot of power but by that time I have a good enough lead where as the car I'm racing has less liely a chance of catching up. I guess I was lucky to have my first three gears as synchronized as they are.

who are you racing where you get such a big lead off of such minimal mods? not bashing, just asking, cause all of my races are really close, and im more modded then you. unless your profile isnt up to date?
 
Probably racing crappy drivers I beat a guy i knew with a 92 mustang gt he had intake header exhaust and it was a 5 speed ,my car just had intake header exhaust and no cat with stock 14's and cheap tires and i had 3 cars by 3rd gear and kept him back it was funny as hell if i was driving his car i would of took my car out sick. :laugh:

can crappy drivers affect automatics? cause i beat this chick in a 7 series? shes a friend of mine and she told me she was racing so i know she was going.

well im talkin about hang out races, where you plan how to race. not a stop at a light race and rev ur engine at the other guy and hope u win.

oh, well i only planned a race once, never really planned if it was a stop or not, never knew people did that... :confused:

u havent been to miami or any other racin obsessed city like this one. most races happen on the highway where you slow down to 30 mph's and then when given the signal, both cars take off. this way u can use ur full potential, well most of it anyway. the fastest ive gone is 120 mph. i didnt top out though, i had to reduce my speed.

the only highway race i tried was when i pulled up next to a carrera :rolleyes: :laugh: and i looked at him dropped it from 4th to... 5th... OMG messed up, but then i dropped it to 3rd, and took off. the guy popped into my lane cause there was traffic and i started weaving through it and he was following me, then when i got in the clear, he didnt blow by me, i was very dissapointed, i wanted to see what those things could do... :(
 
WOW our cars are alot quicker when already moving. i walked a 3000GT and a Mustang convertable today on the highway :D
