i'm i better off buying a GSX or GST then turboing an GS or RS???
What do the kits range from???
and how many HP do you get from them???

Thanks

EVERY 4G63 guy is gonna say yes. If you already have a GS or RS then go for the GS and turbo it. I have a GS turboed and its great, but if I didn't already have it I woulda bought a GS-T or GSX when I finally had the money.

My question to you is, your profile says that you have a 1995 GSX so why are you thinking about getting a GS or RS?

thanks for the reply green95hrcgs
i have a honda right now and i'm looking at getting a 95 GSX...
what is a 4G63 ????
How much HP did you get off it is it faster or slower than a GS-T GSX???
How much did the Turbo Kit cost you????

Thanks

The 4G63 is the turbo engine that is in the DSMs. A stage one turbocharged RS or GS should take a relatively stock GS-T. The turbokits are expensive, but well worth it.

if you're looking for simplicity, a gst or gsx is obviously going to be the best choice. you'll have the turbo engine to begin with and can build from there. if you're set on your car (maye you've already spent alot on it) go for the turbo kit, but expect the extra expenses and work that comes with it.

turbo kits are gonna run you $3000+ and then installtion unless you can do it yourself. you can only expect to run about 7 lbs. of boost without spending additional money on supporting mods. economically speaking, a gst/gsx is gonna give you more bang for the buck. no, i don't own a gst, but wish i did.

really the only advantage of a 420a with a turbo kit is the lower insurance cost you can usually get away with being they'll think you just have a plain old 420a.

get the GSX... even if u turbo the RS/GS u wont get the AWD. it's much easier to start making more power on an engine that was built for it. but if u want to buy a cheap eclipse get a base model and build up ur bottom end. 420as are notoriously weak in the ring lands when turboed.

this is what it boils down to,
a 4G63 owner is gonna say get the GST/GSX
a 420a owner like me is gonna say get the RS/GS and turbo it =)

this is as unbiased as I get can with a suggestion:
If your not worried about higher insurance and want performance ASAP get the GST/GSX. Getting the RS/GS will keep your insurance rate lower but you'll hafta swing the extra dough to turbo the car not to mention the extra work.

If your in my boat its easier and less expensive to turbo the car you have then it is to sell it and get a turbo one. If I had the money back in the day when I go my car I would have prolly gotten a GST/GSX but that doesnt mean I dont love my RS

I couldn't have said it better myself. :)

I can't believe no one's mentioned crankwalk yet. That's the only thing that kept me from getting a Tsi AWD/GSX. Figure that will run you an extra $1500/$2000 for the cost of an extended warranty.

It's not like it happens to every car. Crankwalk does happen to 2G DSMs, but not everyone of them. Every car can get crankwalk, some just get it more than others.

When considering boosting a 420a, I would question the engines durability after the install. There are people who may be able to confirm a engines life span when boosted. But i would think it would be rather stressful wondering if it would break every day. Just my .02

From what I read, you have to be careful when boosting on the 420a. They don't hold up as well as the 4g63. Remember the 420s wasn't made for a turbo and the 4g63 was.

But don't let that discourage you. They are still people running good times with the 420a, just have to be alot more careful as it is very sensitive when you start increasing the boost.
