Racing a 325ci

I have a 96 eclipse gs. Everything on it is stock. My friend has a stock 2001 bmw 325ci. I was wonderin how i would stack up against him. I think that he would be afraid to put it to the floor since bmws are expensive to fix. Im not afraid to do it because there are all kinds of other things wrong wit the car (nothing hurting the performance tho )
Please tell me what you think.

Well car-stats.com says the '01 325Ci will run a 15.4 stock. You being an n/t will run a mid to high 16 stock with a descent driver. So... you do the math. Anyways just get out there and race him and have fun.

is he a stick or auto? If hes a stick it could hurt you or help you. if hes a stick and cant drive and u can drive then a second difference can definately be made up.

His car is a stick. But i think that it will help me. He will probably not go all out because i know that if i had a bmw and i was only 16 that i wouldnt want to break it since they are so expensive to fix. The only real reason that i race is to have fun but if i do win, i will brag a little bit.

umm definatly yes, i raced a 325ci and i spanked it. It was stick but i dont kno much of the driver so i cant tell ya if hes any good.

I think that if i dont win, i would at least stay with him thru 2nd. But all and all it will be fun. all my friends say it will be a good race so i will have to do it sometime.

being lightly modded and if the driver knows how to shift i think the BMW would win, by alot. i think a modded 1g would take it MAYBE with a good launch, but only from a stop. the BMW is a heavier Rear Wheel drive car, and if there is any roll the eclipse wouldbe stomped imo.

ive owned a 325 and quite honestly well tuned stock 325s will out run you for sure. and if your bettingg on the fact he cant drive or wount drive it hard, most guys i know that runs BMWS will drive them when needed and if he wount let me drive it, just to prove its a faster car

i owned a bmw before i had my mitsu. it was actually my beater car. they are made really well and hard to break. to answer your question it is all based on your reaction time. if your beat him out of the hole you might just take him.(that's if he is not a good stick driver)

um there is a big hp/tq gap. even off a bad start the dsm would lose.

Well let's see I have personally a '95 BMW 525i, so for those that do not know beemer's the last two #'s mean your engine size. So mine is a 2.5L in a car that weighs 3600lbs. on a scale and I am running a 14.68 quarter mile time with some mods to it. I also have the time slip to PROVE IT!!!!!!!! I am an automatic, I ran slicks to help me acheive this time aswell. So your freinds car even running stock will probably take you considering that the 2.5L M40 engine makes all it's hp at the top end. He also has lot's of tourque to back it up. But if he is a bad driver the wheel spin will allow you to toast him. I am playing with now a '92 S-Coupe with a 4G63 upgrade on it and it will smoke it though.... The car only ways like 1400lbs so it helps alot considering power to weight ratio, but have fun and let the rubber fly.......

my bosses kid has a 2001 bmw 325i 5-speed.I think his car is slighltly faster then mine with all my mods and hes basicly stock exept for a magnaflow muffler and suspemsion mods.so if your car is stock and he drives decently i think he'll probably beat you by a couple car lengths.

hmmm thats interesting i never knew that.

well heres the only race i had with a bmw. i raced a 330i from about 30mph to about ummm lets just say pretty fast. this was with all my current mods except for my nitrous, i wasnt spraying. we were dead even... DEAD even, until about 100, then he started pulling on me. not bad for a 1L difference in displacement. oh ya he started pulling at 100 right when we started going up a hill, so im not sure if that had anything to do with it. sooo i guess what im sayin is go race him.
