i need help deciding on whether it would be better to build up my bottem end with forged internals or buy a stroker. I plan on goin turbo and want to be able to boost around 15-16. not sure if building up my bottem end will hold this or not. Any help that you guys can give is very appreciated. What can the 420a hp wise hold up to? Thanks in advance:dsm:

There's plenty of people that run 18 psi on 2gnt forums. You should ask there if you want more details on their setups.

But what does that have to do with a 2.2 stroker, as per your thread title? That's not going to hold more boost (probably about the same), it's actually probably better for daily driver applications then racing applications. Stroked motor means more power at lower revs, less potential to reach higher revs.

ya, but the stroker will be stronger, but if i can rebuild with forged internals and save some money and still have the strength to boost what, thats what i'm trying to find out b/c i know the stroker will hold it, not sure if our blocks will....thanks, i'll check out 2gnt

the 2.2 stroker is a stroked 420a block. So i don't get what you mean when you say the stroker will hold but a rebuilt block won't... it's the same block.

In other words, a 2.2 is just a rebuilt block just a bit more bored out and the stroke was made longer. So if you know that can hold boost, then yea, a regular 420a rebuilt with forged parts would definately hold boost too.

Is not an easy question to answer because it depends on how well the 2.2L stroker is built (forged crank) , and also what compression you decide to order (8:8:1 , 9:1, 10:5:1 etc) and what turbo.

Howell has had their 2.2L stroker kit for awhile now, but speaking to them , you will prolly get the same idea/ opinion as to what Mystic511 already told you.

However, FTY, claims to have a 2.2L that will hold all the way to redline (9k) just as strong as their rebuilt 2.0L. Only , their site is down, so you would have to call VTengines, their main source , to get any answers or order info.

i would get the 8.6:1 compression so it would allow me to boost, but i'll do some more research and talk to the people that have strokers a little bit more. thanks for the input:dsm:
