Is this slow acceleration normal??

I currently have a CAI and GReddy SP catback 60mm made for a GST. I'm runnin an auto...thats the way I got it since it was only 3800 for a 2G Eclipse RS. Well the acceleration is faster than stock up to about 70 mph. After 70 mph the acceleration is almost non-existent. The tach dips for a second at around 70 mph and then resumes very slowly. It takes like an hour to reach 100 mph. Is this normal for a 420A?

Umm, no i have a '98 RS and it sure doesn;t move like that. U might wanna bring it to a good garage and have em look at it, cuz i dont think it should be running like that.

oops, sorry im canadian, so sometimes i forget most of u mean MPH not KM/h, 70 Miles, i dunno maybe, not good on standard and metric convertions.

i have the same problem as earthwonder. i have and automatic eclipse rs and it has a very slow acceleration. any ideas of what i could do to make it accelerate faster? and would installing headers make it faster? and also is there any kind of chip to get it to a higher speed? for cheap

That is definately not normal, you should be able to 90 or so pretty easily on a flat surface. Getting Short Ram or cold air intake might help a bit. I suggest the Weapon-R Dragon for that area. Maybe a new exhaust manifold and a some aftermarket spark plugs and wires might help a little as well. Like it has been said, take it to a shop to get it looked at just to be sure that nothing is wrong with it.
