please don't flame me for asking this, but I am pretty sure its never been asked before. I am considering putting your engine, into another car. I was wondering if anyone has in their favorites, some pictures of the engine from all different angles. I need to know where the mounts are, where the turbo is located, the size and shape of the oil pan, tthe approximate length of the engine, mount-to mount, and exhaust to throttle body.

I'm not some noob lookin to pester you guys, but so far my work has been limited to Hondas and Datsun Zs, so I'm not very familar with mitsubishi engines. I'd appreciate it if someone could also warn me about any peculiarities with this engine. Anything thats gonna stick out and get in the way of the swap.

BTW, the engine is replacing a H23 in a honda prelude. the H23 is fairly large (being a 2.3l), so Im hoping the 4g will fit in its place.

Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any help. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.

Since you're in the area, can I suggest visiting Shinwa International in Fremont?

They will almost certainly have at least one sitting on the floor that you could measure, especially if you sweet-talked them a little bit about how you might buy it...

Note that the engines come in two basic flavours, known as the 6-bolt and 7-bolt. For most applications, the 6-bolt motor is preferred. If the flywheel is visible, count the bolts. If not, consult http://www.vfaq.com/mods/early-late-engine.html for the obvious external signs.

Later-model 7-bolt motors have the torque mounts attached to the transaxle, wheras 6-bolt motors and early 7-bolts have them attached to the block. The later-model transaxles will mate with the early-model engines, so you can mix and match a bit to get these mounts in the right locations.

Good luck with your swap. It may encourage you to know that we've seen pictures of a 4g63 swapped into a Porsche 911, so it's know to go some... odd places.

thanks for the tip, I'll drop by there tommorow afternoon, they're only one city down from here.

I knew someone was gonna vote for mistu power. Car people have amazing levels of brand loyalty. Makes me an outcast. I have a nissan that's scheduled for a toyota engine, and a honda that'll soon be scheduled for a mitsu engine. But from what I seen so far, the people on this board are a bit more knowledgeable than your average honda board. I'm getting tired of the "which sticker offers the most HP" threads. just my little rant.

well, i went to shinwa. The swap is off for now, the tranny mounts aren't even close to lining up. I dont want to go through the trouble of a super-complicated mount. Its unfortunate because the motor lined up pretty well.
