Frustration & Despair!

Hopefully most of you out there are feeling what im feeling!!!

Heres my issue, i have a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS N/T, my problem is this.

THERES NO N/T MOTOR UPGRADES!!!

everything is for turbo models, i know that eclipse's are known for theyre turbos but at the same time why make a N/T model if the turbo models are more wanted and popular?

when i bought my car i had no clue that there was turbo models so i made that mistake but who cares!!

If you know where i can purchase N/T performance upgrades please let me know b/c i cant find shit, everything is for turbo applications.

Do a little more searching on the forums. There are some stuff out there that you can use along with some retailers who sell it. Check some of the profiles to see some of the upgrades that people have done so far. It's just a little harder to find than the turbo mods. Even harder for the 1.8 owners.

what do you have the 2.0 model or the 1.8 models?
theres plenty on mods for the 2.0 and theres a some good ones for the 1.8 just have to look harder.

N/Ts are for dependability, mileage and efficiency. If some jerk in a turbo gives you any crap, tell him you'll race him for any 500 miles he chooses.

Mine is a 2.0L 16v, I want the performance but at the same time i dont want to spend 30 bucks a day for gas so i need to find parts for my N/T model, the only exhaust compnents i have seen are pacesetter, ive searchedand found crap thats why im searching for helpfrom other people who have found those resources for N/t parts.

if you have any websites or if you know anywhere in the portland area where i can get parts for my N/T please hook me up wit ha few links.

I had a mechanic doing things to my car but he was nickl'n and dime'n me, for ex. he wanted to sell me a used downpipe for 100bucks, the thing wasused from a junkyeard i could tear it out myself and buy a used one for 10 bucks, then i before all that i bought a grant steeringwheel and install kit , he first told me he'd do it for 10bucksbut then he turns around and says 35bucks b/c theres more thing involved, im thinkin WTF i can do it myself for free, i wanted him to do b/c of ease but apperantly he's not cool like that. :thumbdown

I am eventually going to go with a punishment 4-1 header when I get everything else completed. I have heard some really good things about going with that design, and punishment is one of the few that is putting any effort into getting some n/t mods.

yea lastnight after i posted to this thread i searched for NT performance upgrades and found the thread posted by punishmentabout how he's puttin a NT 4g63 motor into a colt, but it seems like the NA website doesnt work and the thread died in sept. 2004 so i havent been able to findanthing else about it, if you know any info about this header pleasehook me up with the link.

oh yea and passion.... where did you get your exhaust and what kind is that? all i can find is pacesetters

I have a regular setup right now, k$n filter, hacked air flow sensor, stock 2g header, gutted cat, arospeed muffler..nothing fancy
Sounds good tho. I heard obx headers are good. But right now i gotta focus on rebuilding my transmisson.

ive basically got a rebuilt transmission,new alternator,hacked AFS and hacked air can other then that everything is stock, the reson im asking for headers and exhaust stuff is because i have to replace my downpipe and i would like to find a header that has the 4-1 design so i can stick a turbo downpipe on for more performance.

Pacesetter's suck as far as i hear.

there is quite a bit of stuff out there, just look for it. i bought a Hedman( not too happy with it) header and downpipe with custom exhaust. kn intake, there are other companies too like injen, and ebay specials. and there are pulleys, internals, and a lot more.

sounds good. good luck on the search. yea theres lots of upgrades for the 2.0 motor, once you get all your bolt on mods done, u should consider some camshafts, like comp or hks a bit expensive but some good gains.

i plan on taking my motor to the extreme as far as bolt ons and such, but it goes back to the parts problem, im sort of new to DSM's but i have realized that these cars spend more time in the shop then they do on the road which is fine for me b/c i like fixing things and so on and so forth. i dont know what turbo parts are able to fit on the NT models, i hear its possible.

yea dsm's are great teachers they will make u become a great mechanic. Turbo wise u can get all your turbo parts from a dead turbo eclipse, and just swap them in but the part that sucks is that on a stock motor you can probaly boost 5-7 psi safely it all depends on your motor. Its better to rebuild your engine with stronger internals that way u can boost much higher than 7psi. and then u gotta get the turbo ecu, safc, injectors etc etc etc..just to boost right.I wanna do this too, but it takes time and money for me. just check out the sticky thread they have.. in the n/t to turbo conversion forum very very very helpful.

i dont plan on turboing it, just taking it to the extreme ( if possible) with a full NT setup.

stage 3 head with dual springs and 1mm valves
adj cam gears
magnus intake manifold
extrememotorsports header
pacesetter exhaust with muffler replaced with apexi n1 uni muffler. also 2.5 inch
2.5 test pipe
coil on plug setup
resistor pack and 450cc injectors
ross 10:0:1 compression
eagle rods
walbro 190lph fuel pump
rewired fuel pump
safc
maf translator
possibly 75mm tb and custom 3 inch intake.

all the parts probably wont be exact but itll be something like that if not more.
