I have a 93 talon n/t and want to upgrade my intake cam to a more agressive turbo intake cam. i was wondering if i had to adjust anything else when i do this or do i just install it and enjoy?
 
does anyone know what kinda gains you should expect. is it high end or low end gains?
 
it wont increase ti that much. but will help. itll see a gain in the whole rpm band.


imho id just go aftermarket cams dude. if your lookign for a gain, and your not happy with the turbo cam youll end up doing it again. just get hks cams or liek crower stage 2's and some nice springs and be done with it. btu you wont need cams till all bolt ons are done
 
my hks 264 moved my power band up about 500 rpm to about 4000 rpm instead of 3500. it does also help with more power over teh whole power band too because it is extending the amount of time and how much teh vales open so more air gets in i noted a good differenece i never got my cam gears tuned tho i coulda go up to another 10-15 hp outta it :laser:
 
I didn't want to start new topic, so I post here!

I have 92N/T model from Europe 150hp stock (USA models has 135hp as I know)
I allready have made some upgrades, see my profile!

Right now I am planing to change my cam!

I bought intake cam from Eclipse GSX year94 with index G, some told that it is biggest stock cam I can get! It was really dissapointing that actually that cam was not as good my stock cam!
Lift was the same, but duration was shorter, thats probably is why USA models has only 135hp :sosad:

So right now I am planing to buy cam from HKS, but I am not sure which one :confused:
As I understood that 264 cam is no change bolt on, but how about 272, do I have to change my valve springs or valves, or anything else do with my head?
I allready have 1mm oversized valves and I am planing to change valve angle for 5 degrees!
Is there anything else I should do to get HKS 272 working in my Eclipse nt???

I'm also planning the CAM mod coming up in a few K miles... Sounds like a worthy investment from what Mike is saying.. I've got the other supporting mods except header/dp.. I'm thinking I'll just do springs when I get mine done. I'm going to call my mitu mechanic and see what he suggest. Please post anymore CAM info you guys might have. :talon: :dsm:

when I tried a hotter cam my check engine lite comes on and stays on. but I also ported head.

Don't need springs. Don't need supporting mods. DO need $30 :D Make sure it's from 92-99 mt turbo. I had trouble finding one with low mileage. 92-94 better, but harder to find.

Need springs with hks/and or other higher than stock lift cams to stabilize valve train. Turbo cars had the same springs as ours, so the cam will work fine. Got 40k on mine.

Maybe you might want the b&m regulator for more control over fuel trims since the cam will lean you out a lil' more. But if you don't have a logger then....you can only resort to plug color.


DAMASCUS, Which cam did you try, I want to upgrade my intake cam and would like more info. Which cel? Guessing air sensor?
