Not that you can do anything about.

"Is there a rev limiter on my car?
As far as is known, the ECU will stop fuel delivery on all the DSM cars at 7500 RPM.

Some 2G FWD cars have a speed limiter which cuts off fuel at 130 MPH. This is because the stock H-rated tires are only rated up to 130 MPH. Replacing the tires and performing this procedure will eliminate it. Warning: you do this procedure at your own risk. There is some information that this fix only works for 1995-1998 cars."

Would reprogramming or upgrading the ECU eliminate the "rev-limiter"? Or having it re-socketed or something like that do anything to solve this problem? I thought that there was a way to do this and allow the motors to rev up past 8000.

OK I was wondering cause my car will run to 7500, but I haven't tried to go past that to see if I could. Didn't wanna blow anything. I am seriously looking to purchase an AWD cause I need more power LOL .

With the modifications you have now you wont need to rev past 7k. Your power will start dropping off probably before 7k or close to it. All you will do is wear and tear on your synchros. Some of the FASTEST DSMs on here shift at 10k at the track and thats because they have gigantic turbos, built motors, and have completly built trannys. Just rethink why you want to rev that high. If its to gain more speed then add more modifications and you will get to that speed you are trying to accomplish ;)

Not to bring this back from the dead... but...

On my '91 1g N/T I never hit a rev limiter of any kind. The engine was built with upgraded valve train, springs, etc, but some specualated that there was no rev limiter on the N/T's and to be honest, I never incurred one...

The N/A project reved freely past 8500, but it didnt really do anything up in that rpm range so it was pointless to rev the car out that much. I'm not saying that all the 1g's are like this, but on my car it didnt seem to have any restriction what soever...

Peace...
