ok i have a 98 eagle talon esi 5 speed that i love and its pretty quick but i wanna go fast but im on a budget so im posting to get some info on cheap mods to get some more ponys out of my 420 i already have the cold air intake exhaust and ngk plugs so ### anyone and everyone leave your thoughts here....

Great idea to keep as my DD, and i'll just start saving up for something turbo. Any one live around Indiana, that knows where to get a turbo Mits/Talon?

I dont understand why people don't just cut the whole front end off and swap it.

my GST was smashed so I took the GSX I parted out and used the front off of that.

I don't see why everyone just doesn't do that. I mean if there happened to be one in the junkyard or something because otherwise they would just take the gst/gsx.

Are you kidding me? I mean i bought mine with front end damage, and had to cut a piece of core support out and weld new in. But cut the whole front end off!:aha::aha:

HHHHMMMM, well what can i get to pull every pony outta my 420, just tell me anything/everything to maxx her out besides nos.

and whats up with that idle?!?!

my car idles like that because of the egr delete that i did. which at the time i didnt know my idle issue till later down the road. and go look at my mods on my profile. theres alot you can do but its not cheap. if i would of built a gsx i would have way more horse power vers the money i spent on my 420a but i knew that going into my project.

Are you a troll or did you just sell your Honda for a DSM? Everything you can do? how much money do you have? You want the most power out of your 420a possible... TO THE "MAXX"

Custom built Forged/Billet crankshaft and stroke the hell out of it, micro polished to reduce windage (knife edge it as well). Forged Carrillo lightweight rods, upgraded bolts, also micro polished.... hmm... extreme head port and polish. Custom Built Cams, hell might as well micro polish them. Take the block from .060 to .080 over (###### wont be the greatest to Daily Drive on. Lets see here. Custom Intake. Custom Intake Manifold. 80mm TB. Custom Built Diamond Double Dipped Pistons w/ latteral and horizontal gas ports. Some total seal AP steal Top gap less rings
Huge ass Turbo charger. Custom manifold and downpipe.. Crank scrapper. Upgraded Fuel system, upgrade it to direct port. upgraded valves, springs, retainers. clutch, with a lightweight flywheel. quafie LSD, Also put a... nevermind you don't want to use Nitrous, but you could custom fit a supercharger. That way you have the turbo and supercharger working together, kind of like a compound turbo, the supercharger feeding the turbo to spool. I've seen them do it on a few GTR's.

OHOHOHOH don't forget to have the exhaust completely custom. Like how the hire end Ferrari's have it so there is to tubes that switch in diameter to help you out in both low and high rpms.

:hmm::banghead: I know I am forgetting something, someone help me out here!

I am not sure that you have any idea what is involved with removing everything from the firewall forward and welding another on. If you can find a donor car to get the front end from, than you already have a shell to build the 4g63 car. It will always cost you twice as much or more to build a car like this than it ever would to buy one.

Pretty much, If you think about doing a swap, you're pretty much wasting the same amount of money.

Might as well find a GST/GSX/TSI shell and start building the motor or find a car on craigslist that is being sold for a decent price with engine work. Saves time and you'll get the boost you want out of a fast car.

4g63 engine swap into the N/T car, you're going to have to weld and cut pieces for the engine to hold and fit.

I thought about an engine swap, but decided later I'll find a GST( on craigslist all the time like $1400-$3000 ) / GSX(Rare find that isn't to shabby/beat up)

Ok, yeah that's what I'm getting from all this. Might as well start looking on CL for a GSX/GST that needs some TLC, so that will be what I do. Also I'm still going to fix the Talon i have now, and maybe sell it to go tward's this new project.

I am sure I have an idea. I had 5 of these cars and currently have 4. I have painted 2 engine bays already so obviously I removed everything firewall forward (1 gst, 1 rs). It was just an idea. I actually cut the whole front off of a 99 gsx i parted out because my gst was hit in the front. It may not be the most ideal thing to do but it sure could work, especially if someone was attached to the car or the donor car was rusted to pieces (like my parted out gsx).

id be interested to know what dyno they used. last year i rebuilt my freinds 98 gs, just a stock rebuild (i actually did it kinda fast, ### he was being a dick about it), no cams, no nothing but replacing the stock cracked manifold and rusted away exhaust with a chebay 150 special with a 4-1 stainless (shorty) header and a 2.5 stainless exhaust with cat delete and huge annoying can muffler. he already had a K&N Intake for it, but the piping was shot, so we bought a cheap ebay CAI for 40 bux.

all i did was have the machine shop do the machining and order the parts, the cyl head we bought on ebay for 200 rebuilt, and i assembled and installed it in a day (i did have to take it back out ### the machine shop forgot to install the MAIN OIL GALLERY PLUGS...or tell me that they had removed them period). it pissed oil all over the ground and i fixed that. put it back in and fired it up first time. ran like a champ.

after about 2000 miles of break-in, we took it too my college (spokane community college) during my summer hi-performance and tuning class, and threw it on our mustang dyno (dont remember exact model number) for some base numbers.

i was impressed that it pumped out 150 hp and 145 tq before correction factor, which i believe added about 8 hp and 5 tq (about 82* ambient that evening). it did feel like it lost a significant amount of low end (header and exhaust killed it i think).

he was happy and i was just glad he hadnt blown it up yet. so im confused at the incredibly low numbers.

ill see if i can get the screen shot of it soon and upload it.
