Hey forum.
So today I did like a 40 mile long trip. The longest in with my 6 bolt swap. Getting there was pretty fun. :)
way back.. not so much.
First reved it pretty high and friends say 3 black smokes came out my straight 3" exhaust. No emissions or cat.
After that its rough idling, give it WOT and doesnt pick up as normally. Also motor vibrates a lot, and sounds like its missing a beat.
Pulled at the nearest exit and oil was low and kept dieing at idle. Added some oil nd idle seemed to stay at 700rpm when it usually idles at 1500. Reason for that is I havent been able to find bov return pipe.

Anyways temp seems normal, oil level is good and no milky liquid on oil cap(blown head gasket), no loose I/c stock tubing. No whining/grinding on turbo, boosts good still.

Not sure on timing but might be off by some teeth? Turbo lag? Want some advice before I go forward and spend money on some more maintenance parts. :D

Although you say that the intercooler couplings are still tight, I would do a Boost Leak Test. Cause you are running rich, based on the black smoke. Or did that black smoke only occur when you shifted, since you aren't recirculated?

And as for your timing, why do you say it may be off a couple teeth? If it is, then it will cause the engine to run rough and vibrate.
