I have a turbo-ed gs, on a s20g and a Hahn portfueler, i was just curious how your guys's stock clutches and transmissions are holding up to the extra horsepower once u go turbo? And how long have your stock trans and turbo lasted on a turbo set up? thanks guys!! hoping for some positive feedback! :thumb:

come on someone help me, i dont want to be walking home from the track!!

I've read that on 7-8 psi people have blown there stock clutch out,the stock clutches aren't meant for that extra power if your gonna wot every gear and slam it into gear and get on it again i don't think the clutch will hold. i have stage 2+ clutch and a stock trans and i can wot and keep going normally..hope that helped

so what im gathering is trans can take it but the clutch cant?
and down the road im planning on upgraded to a quaffie lsd trans and a better clutch just dont have the funds right at the moment.

that what i read, did you search at all? I've read it on the forum a couple of times

edit- what your psi at? i would upgrade your stock clutch because its not going to handle the power based on miles and such. just what i would do, why not upgrade to know it will positively handle the power.

My stock clutch started slipping after putting about 5k miles on it on 7psi with a 16g. Stock transmission with 140k miles on it still ran smooth. I then upgraded to a neon rt trans and stage 2+ clutch.
You can upgrade your tans to a neon trans which are supposed to be stronger.

ya i plan on upgrading as soon as i can when i get the cash, just trying to see how other ppls oem trans and clutches have help up to the extra hp, thanks :thumb:

Trans will be fine, diff is the weak point. Upgrade to the Quaife and you'll be fine. Otherwise you stand a chance of spitting out the diff pin.

not sure on what number I'm putting down yet, i kept up with an evo and i was at 20psi so id love to know what I'm at hp wise

20 psi? i thought you were also running portfueler, what are you doing to pull timing?

i havent pulled timing yet, i usually drive around at 16 psi but turned the boost controller up for fun that day

how long you been driving at 16psi? i'm nervous to take it past 15...

How much can the stock diff handle??

i do not know an exact number, but from the information i am gathering it is not very much.

Rule of thumb is 15 on that turbo. Some can go 20 and no have an issue. some cant.

As far as trans 3.55 from a neon isnt any stonger, just geared better for turbo application. There is a 3.55 HD that may be stronger. but its a hunt to find them iirc. clutch and Diff are your weak points. Theres no telling how well ## stufs going to hold up till you do it..

Captain ron; If anythings gonna happen, its gona happen out ther boss.. LOL

Who cares? you dont have the same trans as us? we dont have options like shep etc.. Im still confused on why the gst/X crowd continues to post in here as if they have some sort of experiance or worthwhile knowlege of our platform..

OHHHHHHH:ohdamn: i didnt see the NT part on his avatar.. my bad but there is no need to be a douche. common mistake nor did i see the 420A turbo thread catigory, was browsing live posts and only saw "strength of oem trans and clutch"

Edit: Useless info deleted.

Fine. i can honestly say if i went itno your 4g6x area.. id be torn apart. Imnot really aiming this at you personally, more of your crowd since they have felt it nessacery to treat 420a a s something far beneath them.. They keep coming in here, and spouting off.. just annyoing. GL on your clutch problems.

rule of thumb 15psi, you mean thats what the 60trim is supposed to be set at?

no, I mean thats kind of the safe area, when using the 20g, where most can run without needing an Aux timing controller to work in conjunction with the PF. Dont go over 15psi unless you have the tuning tools to do so. You certainly can, and you may be fine.. but a good number of those who have gone over on just PF, they end up reducing it to 15 for the health of their motor.

understandable, thanks for the info, also i have the stage 5 calibrated and the a/f is fine at 20psi its at 11.3 i believe it was, but I'm just gonna have the psi sit at 15, still quick at 15psi

AFR looks good, but it wont tell you if your detonating lightly. but yes 15 is some good power.

side note, she couldnt drive LOL.. but still.. winnings' winning.. LOL

i smoked her LOLz
