Turbine housing flapper removal questions

So i have picked up a turbine housing that didnt come with a flapper assembly. Its just an open hole where the flapper assembly entered the housing to the flapper door. I welded the wastgate hole shut but do i need to seal up where the old flapper assembly went into the housing? Would this cause an exhaust leK out of this open hole?
 
Yes, the hole where the flapper door arm went needs to be welded shut too. You do know that you will need to run an external wastegate mounted on the exhaust manifold now right?

Why? If the flapper is welded shut, sealed around the wastegate hole, then the flapper are hole should relevance. I mean it is nice to have it sealed and look professional. It would not leak, nor cause a bad o2 reading is the flapper door is sealed shut.

It is only going to cause a leak if you are using a recirculated housing. Also exhaust gases would have a hard time traveling back up the recirculation tube, it could be a potential leak.

If you used something like this flange it wouldnt matter, theres no reciruclation tube needed. But this also serves the same purpose as welding the flapper door shut, since it blocks off the flow of exhaust gases.

And yes a manifold wastegate is needed now. I would have left it and ran it off of the o2 housing, but it really is dictated by what manifold you are running.

I am using an evo3 o2 housing which is of course recirculated. I was curious if the exhaust gasses would come to the WG merge in the o2 and then travel back up and out the flapper arm hole causing a leak and messing with my wideband. Since i asked this kinda late last night i was messing around with ideas and ended up useing an o2 housing bolt and a nut. Tightened the hell out of it to seal it up. Now i know welding would be top shit here for solution but could this nut and bolt idea work with minimal effects? I hate exhaust leaks...

The exhaust gasses would most definitely come back thru the wastegate passage and leak out the hole. I'd just throw a bolt in the hole and weld it in there.
 
I have a nut and bolt in there now. But is the welding absolutely necessary? I dont wanna half ass my build here. I have been looking for a o2 flange with just the turbine exit and the WG blocked, but they are far and few.

I already stated that welding would be the best option. But the PO ran just a nut and bolt through that hole and he stated that he had no problems. But if it needs to be welded so be it. I am the only one in this thread with one green box LOL
