new to dsm and already a problem lol

i just bought my first dsm a month or two ago. 1992 eclipse gs and already have a problem . the motor was ether set up to run a turbo on there was a motor swap. obviously the person i bought it from had no basic knowledge of mechanics. Almost all of my sensors are cut if not missing. wiring was a mess and had a heavy lifter tic . started a top end re build last week and my friend pulled on the timing belt. so i guess my question is can i set timing easily with the long block still in the car or should i just pay to trailer it to my shop and pull the motor and do it that way. despite the problems i love this car

You can set the timing while the engine is still in the car it's just much more of a pain due to lack of space

It's not that bad to do But since your in there make sure you get a timing belt kit and replace the tensioner and pulleys, b.s belt and pulley if your not doing a b.s delete mine as well since you have it apart and don't have to worry about it. Water pump as well.

1. I'd probably pull the motor just because this is your first time, and its much easier out of the car, not to mention it will be easier to fix all of these " missing or cut " connectors you have.

2. My question to you 1. Why did you buy the car with a bunch of cut/missing connectors? 2. What makes you think that it is " set up for turbo or swapped " ?

Just aggravates me that people post " Just got DSM already a problem " when the problem has nothing to do with the car. Some tool cut and jerry-rigged it, and you bought it, and some how it having problems is the norm because its a DSM? Blah.

the things that are missing are not that bad and can be replaced easy enough. and i got the car for a good price plus i am a project person and love working on things . the main reason that i think it is swapped is the vin says its naturally aspirated and there was a turbo and i/c all set up under the hood.

sorry for the confusion i was not saying the problems where the car i love dsm. i was saying that the problem was recent owner. and i am new to owning one not mechanics
