Finish G4CS build
Finish Rewire
ECMlink V3 upgrade

My goal basicly is to have the car running and tuned by March 1st. I try and look at the list of just 3 things and try and pretend like it is a weekend project :p

-New bushings everywhere
-weight reduced to the max as full race car gutted, I hope 2800 lbs minimum
-DSM link, "welcome to 2003" :) ditching s-afc, s-itc, lasted 8 years not bad and 11 sec time slip.
-"R" compound tires
-seat time seat time seat time seat time, with a Evo16G you get a lot of seat time and passing the FP3065 setup overheating and the guy who LOVES 1/4 miles racing and don't know shit about road racing. :D

Here's my new "mod" for next season. I'll hopefully be using it to tow my car to different HPDE events next year. I just have to find a trailer to use (rent or convince my friend to borrow his).

Its.... not.... fair....

good catch :)

Do a writeup once you figure this out! For some reason or another, I always find myself taking off my front bumper.

Here's two examples of quick release bumpers I found Wes. I haven't thought about how I want to go about this recently, so I'll have to look around at fasteners and whatnot before deciding. But I figured I'd throw these out there for now.

And this one just has a few pictures.

So you finally will be able to make it out to Summit Point so I can miss my gsx even more?

You know it :thumb:

I hope to make at least one trip down there next season. I'll definitely be in touch when I know for sure what's going on. I might also try and work down there to start building up some track credits if I can get the time.

Finally wrapped up almost all of my maintenance in having the car for almost a year now. My next steps are going as followed:

Inside:
-FP Ex Manifold
-Replace Valve Seals (little smokey)
-Put in the 3g Lifters that have been sitting in my room for 4 months
-Install 190 Pump
-Put in my 650cc's that also have been sitting in my room for awhile
-Learn how to tune my 98 ECU for everything
-Fab up some IC/Rad ducting
-Make a ram funnel from stock ic location to intake
-SlimFans & Unsure about which kind of rad mish or koyo

Outside:
-Weight Reduction (CF Hood & Hatch, already gutted inside)
-Wheels (Too many options, looking for something light, black faced w. a chrome lip and plenty of thin spokes)
-Paint center taillight piece matching white
-Might get a mako spray if I can find time to do my own grade A job of prep work.

That's about all I can think of, hopefully the end result hopefully will be the car getting it's cherry popped on the course

I just got done with my year end maintenance.

-Pulled head to check everything out, found out too much crank case pressure was pushing oil through valve seals.
-Set up proper crankcase ventilation
-Found bad cyclone actuator vavle and modified a wastegate actuator to work with a homemade bracket.
-Finally rebuilt my bad 60mm TB and put it on instead of the stock 2g TB.
-Painted a whole bunch of ratty looking parts. Most of the piping is now wrinkle black all baked properly for the greatest durabiltiy.
-Used some 2000* hightemp ceramic paint to clean up the stock heat shield.
-Replaced bad motor mounts
-Finally got a new dipstick so I dont have to use pliers to check my oil.
-Replace the original upper radiator hose (103k miles and 15 years old)

Im gonna throw the stock suspension on for the winter driving here soon.

Plans to come.
-A couple months before the new Auto-x season starts Ill order a new set of 275 V710s.
-Most likely have English Racing do a tranny rebuild with a 4-spider and front quaife.

I dominated my class last year, so with these little extra's I shouldnt have much problem getting a 3rd OR SCCA SM class championship and a Packwood National Tour and Pro-solo win.

Do you plan on road racing/autox/rallying the car, considering that's what forum this thread is in and what we've been talking about? ;)

That's why I bought it, this things no grocery getter LOL

hrm, plans plans plans. I think I'll be in ESP next season, so I guess something like this?

Suspension + Chasis:

GC coilover kit (500f 350r) w/ Koni yellows -- eventually I might get them dyno matched and revalved
Spherical bearing upper mount plates w/ coaxial spring hats -- RRE or get them machined
Offset bushings or adjustable upper control arms (if I can get any)
Front and rear sway bars (probably RM Racing)
Front and rear strut bars (RRE or other?)
97+ lower control arms for added camber and caster (is this free?)

Wheels + Tires + Brakes:
245/45R16 on 16x8/8.5 (does the proper wheel exist?)
Hawk HP+

Drivetrain (might not happen until next year):
Quaife front and center LSD
Kaaz rear LSD

Engine(haven't really thought about this yet):
1G BOV w/ RRE upper piping
MCB + Boost gauge
a quite catback (Do they exist?)
Some way to tune

Either no one is doing work to their car or people are doing so much work that they're not getting on here very often. Or maybe no one's planning on racing their car this upcoming season.

My brother removed my windshield washer system a few weeks ago. We've been working on a custom gauge bezel, and will hopefully get some catch can plans working in the upcoming months. However, for our plans, I might need to relocate my battery, so we'll see how that plays out. I'd hate to design something to work in a space I know I'll have sooner or later (where battery currently is), but then have to design another setup since the battery is still there.

Oh, and we're going to be starting the DG suspension build soon :hellyeah:

Really nice thing to read in this thread, guys. As for myself - I will be building a street car for street racing. Here we have short streets with a lot of traffic lights so a lot of distances are 1/8 to 1/4 mile.

Here is my list:

- Speed density setup with ds-map (Jackal)
- MAP and IAT sensors (bought)
- FP68HTA turbo (bought)
- FP Race exhaust manifold (bought)
- dodge modding my BOV
- engine buld with forged 8.5:1 pistons and rods, acl race bearings
- Kelford 264/272 or 272/272 cams
- 3g lifters
- maybe some valve springs
- -10 an catch can
- FIC 1050's
- Fuelab AFPR
- Innovate XD-16 (bought)
- Walbro 255 HP
- CX FMIC 29x9x3 (bought)
- FMIC cold water sprinkler
- alternator relocation
- some engine and body paint

I think that is pretty much it. After this is ready will change the brakes and suspension...but first things first :)

Well, I was thrown a few steps backward when I went to do the clutch on my car and the crossmember pretty much fell out of the core support, which came out of the car in 3 pieces.

So I'm toning things down to just getting fuel done, getting a decent FMIC, and doing a MAF-T setup until I can replace the car.

I've run out of time and money recently. :|

I'm in the same boat. I'm in the middle of remodeling my house, getting married in the fall, and a new position at work keeps me out of the garage. I can't see getting to that fully built shep trans install, or the splitter I've been designing in my sleep anytime soon...but my fiancee won't let me sell it...or my bike :hellyeah:

So keep the updates coming guys. It motivates me to finish up some of these other projects!

I've run out of time and money recently.

I'm right there with you. With all these damn inspections we've been having at work, 6 day a week 10-12 hour days are typical. Too bad I don't get paid by the hour. :D

The only major thing I still need to buy for my car though still is the cage I think. Having the time to put all these parts on is another story... Some of the parts sitting around waiting to go on: Evo Brembos, 2-piece rotors, Ti shims, JDM Galant knuckles, JIC coilovers, Mishimoto radiator/hoses, full poly suspension kit, EVO III OFH, oil cooler, alt relocation, bunch of gaskets/belts, engine mounts, gauges, mirrors, exhaust manifold, O2 housing, downpipe, etc...

Not enough time. Ugh.

Edit: Oh yeah, I need some R6s and new wheels too. Forgot about those spendy items.

I am actually pretty much done with my prep for the 2010 Season. Only things left to do are to install the fire extinguisher, jack, first aid kit, and do some minor wiring. No off-season for us rally guys :)

I am starting to think a bit about tarmac though, mostly in terms of wheel choices though, since I'm already pretty much set on what suspension setup I plan on using.

NASA Rallysport Stock Medium as far as org. and class goes.

I've recently been really getting into the fun that can be had competing offroad so I plan to find an awd and swap my good parts over from my Laser. I then plan to try and mildy prep it for rallyx and autox duties such as:

-Tires and wheels are a big part. Probably wait on the studded ice tires until next season since this ones almost done. For sure dirt and tarmac tires though.
-Poly Suspension Bushings
-Chassis reiforcements
-Skid plates (removed for autoX)
-Got a set of 2g GSX brakes to throw on with SS lines and slotted rotors with Hawk pads
-New shocks all around, maybe springs.

And anything else I see fit. Basically, I want a car I can do everything with. Blast up some backroads, whoop ass on the pavement twisties, haul ass on the highway and do it in all 4 seasons.

Picked up a 92 Evo 1 RS shell with Ohlins adjustables and an incomplete 10 point cage. Rewired the entire thing with MilSpec wires and a fresh 1g ECU (already had Link). Just rebuilt my 6 bolt with 9.0:1 Wiseco's, Scat rods, and a built head. Having the shocks revalved and for higher rates as we speak. I have to do a 5 lug swap so I can use my 17x9 RPF1's and Cobra calipers/rotors. Should be fun.

Ok then. I'll get a little more detailed. I totally missed what forum this was in.

Since my car is my DD, there really isn't an offseason. I just add parts as I get them.

I'm part of the PSU car club, and we basically just go out as a group and run whatever races we can get into when we aren't broke from the college life.

I've done several SCCA autox races at the local airport. The power was there, but I just couldn't get it to the ground, even with AWD. Crappy all seasons ROFL along with 230,000 mile suspension bits left me feeling like I was all over the place. It was a good introduction to autox anyways.

We also make trips out to Beaver Springs for some drag racing. I've had more than my fair share of problems there. Nothing catastrophic, but just annoying tuning/performance problems.

Plans for next year, at minimum:
- 264/272 cams. May go straight 272s.
- Roll the fenders and squeeze some summer performance 245s under all 4 corners.
- Tokico Iluminas with some Tokico shocks.
- Some meth/water injection.
- Shift kit for the auto tranny.
- I might get it professionally tuned with the Evo 8 Ecu I'm running.

Hopefully, this will make me a little more competitive.

3 month update

Already bought:
  • Got Comp 10100 intake and 10200 exhaust cams.
  • Evo 8 Springs and Retainers
  • New valve stem seals
  • Revised lifters
  • Translab Shift Kit
  • Mitsu Diamond SPIII ATF and new filter
  • Gates Racing Timing belt
  • SD setup
  • Front and rear megan racing strut bars
  • Testing a DIY auto trans line pressure controller (Built but not installed yet. Fancier than IPTs.)

By spring:
  • Evo 8 rims with 245/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1's
  • Possibly some new shocks/springs/coilovers.

The hope is for some low 12s at least at the drag strip while turning some better times at the autocrosses I occasionally run.

Is there a reason you with with the 245/40's over the 245/45's? That is the same tire I'll be running on the same wheels, but am not sure which one to go with. The 40 will give you more clearance, which might be your reason. I just hope I have enough clearance for either tire in the rear because of the different knuckles.

Also, if you might be interested in some custom suspension, let me know!
