Ok I have a 99 gst automatic stock fuel for now I was wondering what is a better choice an evo 3 or sleeper 16 I'm not worried by spool time and quarter mile times I drive on the highway everyday just want to know which one would be better I can get the sleeper 16 for 500 with a evo 3 mani or a brand new evo 3 ported which is like 700

Im getting a dsmlink and all the fuel system. the most i wanna push is 20 pounds of boost

I say evo 3. More poplular among DMSers. More available advice and help?

I got a FP T28 fully ported on a 98 automatic running about 20lbs of boost. Its fun on the highway.

Yes like he said the evo 3 is probably the way to go. There will be a lot more people on this forum with experience with it to help you out if you have any questions.

Thank you guys for the info. would anyone take the sleeper 16g over the evo 3. i cant find any useful information on the sleeper 16

It all depends on your goals but if you say you want it for highway fun, i have to agree on the 16g.
It's a tried and trusted turbo over and over again for almost every type of goals wether it be fast spooling or with a few parts for some more kick up top, the 16g kicks butt and is worth it.
Also it's not how much boost you want to push, it's more of how much power you want to push, better way of planning/thinking of it.
With your mentioned fuel system upgrades, you don't need to port the turbo, and 700 ? I don't see where you are getting that from.
I got my evo3 16g for $555 shipped brand new.
Do some shopping around for good deals.
Good luck.

Fp has the e316g's on sale right now too for a good price. The e316g is a fun turbo for street driving. The power likes to fall off towards the top of the rpms, but mid range it is very fun. The sleeper 16g that you are talking about usually has an 18g or 20g compressor wheel in it, either of the two will give you much better top end power over the 16g comp wheel. Personally, I would go for the sleeper 16g because it comes with a better exhaust manifold, and its cheaper with a better bang for the buck for power. You will want more power in a few months after having either turbo so why not just start out with the bigger one?

Getting it ported will let the turbo breath easier. The exhaust gasses will enter and exit faster with less backpressure, therefore it will spool faster and make a bit more power too.

Where did you get that info because it's untrue. Getting a ported turbo creates more cubic feet on the intake side and that neglects to help spool time.

The OP doesn't need it worry about these things unless he's looking to top out the 16g or evo3 which I doubt he's going to on a stock fuel system. He needs to worry about other things before stepping up to a turbo like exhaust, fuel system, engine management, etc...

Now that i know what turbo im getting what size injector and what fuel pump should i get. i just wanna boost round 20 pounds

Fuel pump, either a 190 or 255 walbro. with the 255 it is recommended you use an afpr. As far as injectors it all matters on what you will be using to tune, after that its a matter of how much you want out of your car,go a little big so you dont end up maxing them out prematurly.

850-1kish. Why not? You only want 20psi now, but maybe you want 20psi on E85, maybe someday you wanna see what happens when you let it give you all it's got. You'll have link, so it won't really matter.

EVOIII is a great turbo and spool up time wont matter these 16gs spool up so fast ..you better buy 255lph fp and re-wire kit, afpr and get a decent size set of injectors ### once you start boosting up to 20 and you have link to tune youre not gonna want to stop at 20 and dont buy an ebay turbo

I got this informantion from Scott, and Robert from Fp. I realise that I can negate fast spool up with a big housing compared to a small housing, but I am refering to a stock like housing that is ported. If you lightly port the inlet of the tubine housing it will reduce turbulance upon entry, and if you port the outlet in a bellmouth style it will give the gasses more area to flow into and causing less backpressure (its like the gains from stock exhaust to full 3"). If you reduce the backpressure on the outlet of the turbine housing, it will allow the gasses preturbo enter into the volute faster causing it to spin more freely. This is pretty simple and straight forward so if you would like to know more and be owned, I would encourage you to call Scott and have a little chat about porting a mitsu turbine housing and the benifits that come along with it. Until then good day.
