hi so i bought a 2g with a 1g 7-bolt engine swap already in it. how do i know the tranny is 1g or 2g? the guy already bolted the tranny mount and the t-belt mount on it now i don't know where to bolt up the rear mount because i don't see any holes on the tranny. any help?

I believe it is considered 1 motor mount and 3 transmission mounts for a 2g.

When you look at a long block, how many mounts are on there? Just the driver's side mount.

When you look at a transmission, how many mounts are on there? There is a bracket in the front for the front roll stopper (bolts to cross member), there is a bracket in the back for the rear roll stopper (bolts to the subframe) and there is a bracket on top for the passenger's side mount.

You can see all three brackets in this picture.

:hmm: Interesting.

I always took "motor mounts" to be engine mounts and not tranny. But then again, Prothane has all 4 "motor" mounts.

The OP has a 2g, so being able to put a 2g trans in a 1g doesn't apply to him. snowborder714 was saying you can't put a 1g trans in a 2g.

the car cranks but not running because of the cam position sensor is bad.
and as you car see from the second picture there is no holes for the front tranny mount.

I am also having issues with my motor mounts. I have a 96 eagle talon non-turbo manual basic engine. My rear roll stopper bracket for the transmission (part #MB731542) has broken. Apparently the part is obsolete, so I cant find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find one? Or at the very least a schematic of one with detailed information so I can have it made? Looks like you have a pic of it above, but the part is hidden in the photo.
Please help, I cant let this little part kill my baby!

Okay, I am confused. How is it that you can bolt a 2g trans to a 1 g block, but not vice versa. I have a Built 2g motor, a built 1 G trans, and a 94 model chassis. I am currently having the pistons replaced in the 2g block (local machine shop screwed up my 6g block, and now it's junk). I have not ye tried to bolt them up, but if the 2g trans can go to the 1g block, how can that not work the opposite drection. I understand the motor/ trans mount thing, but Motor mounts are easily made by any good fabricator. will the Trans physcially bolt up to the block. Will the 1g trans, mate to the 2g block? Throwing all else aside.

1g trans is too long, will not fit in the engine bay. At least not in a 2g. I'm not sure about a 1g.

It has nothing to do with the length of the transmission (they are the same).

It has to do with the 2g roll stops.

On the 2g, the front and rear roll stops bolt to the bell housing while on a 1g they bolt to the block.

A 1g transmission has no mounting bosses for the 2g roll stops.

Aside from the roll stop issue, everything will bolt up.
