Im looking to make my own water lines for a gt40r. I would rather order the fittings offline because it would be cheaper than taking my water pipe and thermostat housing to Lane automotive and buying everything at top price. Has anyone already done this? Can anyone tell me what fittings I will need for the thermostat housing, water pipe, and on the turbo?

The water inlet/outlet on a GT40 is M18x1.5. Dependign on room/routing you can do a straight outlet fitting or banjo. As for the water pipe/thermostat housing, you can run a metric to -6 AN adapter and use -6 SS line, or can possibly bend/modify your existing lines. For mine (GT35R), I just bought an AL -6 AN weld bung for the thermostat and a Steel -6 AN bung for the water pipe.

FYI.. ATP Turbo has a nice selection of fittings for the Garrett turbos as does Summit racing (once you know the size) :dsm:

Thanks for the info, Im guessing that becuase you welded your bungs in that you dont know the threads on the thermostat housing and the water pipe? And yeah I was checking out that website but it didnt help much when I didnt know the threads :)

I used the FAIV hole on my 1G and was an odd size (17mm?) and there was no metric to AN adapter fitting I could find. I could have used a larger fitting (NPT/Metric) and tapped the hole out, but I chose to weld it as the cost to have that done (free :) ) was more than a Tap I'd use once. The waterpipe was an N/T so I had to weld a fitting on anyway :dsm:

ahh gotcha. Sounds like I will just be taking my water pipe and thermostat housing up to Lane automotive and just pay full price. Do they have banjo bolts with AN ends?
