Gm maft on a 1g but with the harness on the 1g is wired to a 2g maf, and a eprom chipped ecu for the 2g maf would it be ok with the gm maf?
I know the how the gm maf works but i am not sure what translator i have to order. The car is a 1g but the harness is hacked and wired to work a 2g maf, i also i have a eprom ecu that is chipped to run the 2g maf and 650 injectors, so i need to know if the gm maf with a 2g translator would work without having to get the car chipped again and if the 2g translator would work. Or what all i would need to make this work as i already have the gm maf.

The difference between the 1G/2G MAFTs is simply the maf "plug". If you have a 2G MAF plug right now, get the 2G MAFT.

Set the MAFT for a 2G w/450cc injectors and let the chip do the rest.

Yes. get the 2G translator so that it will plug right into your 2G MAS plug. get it? Also be carefull when you setout out the 1ST time. you WILL need to tune your car again.

Silver Bullit,

If your still around, I know this thread is old, but Im just curious on how your results were after installing the GM maft? How was retuning, any hiccups etc?

I asked because I have a chipped eprom ecu set for my larger injectors and 2g mas, and my 1g plug wiring is hacked to use the 2g plug so obviously I will just be getting the 2g version GM maft and translator.

Good thing is I can retune my chips anytime Iwant as I have a chip burner and have the evilscribe program and have been rewriting my own chips for the past 6months now.

Bad thing, I dont have a wide band yet and I can only set the afr I want with the chip but I am not sure how close it actually is.

Being that my injector compensation and airfuel ratio is already fixed, i was figureing just zero'ing out the maft and it should run the same as it runs now except minus the draw thru 2g mas airflow restriction.... Anyone able to shed any light on those thoughts, or have had a similar experience, or ideas to what im suggesting?

I just want to be aware of any things I could run into, I know a lot of people have finicky experiences with their gm mafts.

Oh and for any of you who are wondering why Id want to run a Maft setup; though the 2g mas is headache free,
is because I want a blow thru setup for the additional spool up and increase of airflow into the compressor, I want to run the Tial bov, and also because I know a few people who find the car to run a lot smoother w/ blow thru setup especially when they have boost leaks.

Ay this beats having to make my own thread for similar questions LOL Thanks

Ahh come on I help too many damn people on this site for someone not to help me get an answer to this simple question. Im not trying to bump my last post, but Im also trying to avoid making a thread for a simple question.
Ive searched around a bit for different input on maf setups but wanted to be sure as my question may result a different answer and I dont know, im about to order my Maf today...

Black Bullet did you find the answer to this/ Im about to order the gen 2 amd i have 2gmaf on there now. So do i need to order the 2g harness or switch back to a 1g and order the 1g harness. I have keydiver chip on my car now. That is set up for a 2gmaf.

You get the 2g harness and you do everything like if you have a 2g.
Even when you are dialing in the translator settings, set it up for what the 2g requires
( ssince your chip is for the 2g mas.) At least thats what I did.
I have a thread somewere around here about my gm maft experience.

Ok i'm reading through this thread just want to make sure i'm seeing truth in this.

I bought a 2G GM Maf-t setup for my 2.3l 2G build. I scraped that idea to save money in the long run. Can i use this setup on my 1G talon?! The talon currently has a 2G mas on it which makes it have the 2G plug there (may need rewiring but thats not the issue ha).\
