Ok to start off I will give you a little back story on the car in question it was a turd when i bought it but has been reborn I have been fixing everthing with wrong with it. Ever scene I got the car to start and drive anytime I come up on the stall and launch it always launches possi so it is supper hard for me to spin the tires most of the time.Today the temp dropped back down to 60deg. holy crap I smoke both tires thru 2nd gear. My question is could my inner coolier be that inefficant thanks for any help.

You have a turbo and IC.The colder weather does help up the power.Cold air= more power right.Exactly.

OK I get that but going from only spinning when coming off the stall at full boost for like 15 feet to easing in the throttle and white smoking 2 gears unless the gas im buying is crap i don't see why there would be a night and day difference in 15 deg ambient temp

You might be the only DSM'er complaining about your car having new found power. LOL I noticed in the winter time my car runs alot better, when I had the stock side mount on. Even in like 60 degree days its great. The first pull is always the best pull. Then its heat soaked LOL.

Im not trying to complain im trying to figure out how to get it to act like this all the time!!!!ROFL

I see the 'eBay parts' reference in your signature line...any chance you have some inefficient Chinese IC core?

I'm running a godspeed 20 1/2 x 9 1/2 I have had good luck before.
I have probed the inner cooler on a 75 degree day turbo side was 110.14 cold side was at 83.23 . I don't know the math but that did not seem unreasonable to me although I don't have the proper tools to measure this and was using a infrared probe on one side then the other.

Horrible fin density. I'd peg that as part of your problems that you can attribute directly to an ambient change, but usually "night and day" feeling is tune based. Cold air, less knock, more timing = "faster".

Logs?

If cold air changes these things, when would you tune your car?

High noon LOL, I would actually tune it at the heat it might be seeing so you can adjust for the heat and how hot the day might be, any colder and it has room to advance its self, im no super tuner but I think it makes sense

You can always make minor adjustments with most tuning solutions, including things like logger/AFC. A right time to tune? Anytime.

Although I agree with the ambient temp possibly having alot to do with it but something you might want to check out is any of the vac lines going to your injen intake. Since you have that I figure you are running a stock mass. If you had one pop off you could be getting unmetered air which would make the car run leaner since your mass doesn't see the added air and the computer wouldn't adjust more fuel for the added air. Leaner is meaner and hotter. Do you know what your A/F was running?

When my car was stock I had one of those pop off and knew something was up. Drove it about a mile and popped the hood and what do you know she was getting unmetered air. Can you say cook cook cook beavis? :ohdamn:

Worth looking at along with the coupler from the mass and the coupler going to the turbo inlet.

Well it was all weather related . Searching for new ic currently i canter up load log file from phone but i was knocking bad when the ambent temp got over 80 . Ebay failed me damn it!

Do you have a WB02 on the car? Whats your AFR at?

Also cold weather has a huge effect on traction. If you have a hard compound tire to start with, coupled with a cold pavement surface, The car isn't going to hook for shyt. Kinda the purpose of a "burnout"

60* and below (ambient) my car won't hook no matter how big of a burnout I do, and thats with slicks.

Lastly...7psi?! I can't imagine you could get out of your own way at 7psi! I fart harder than 7psi. ;)

My a/f stays around 11.8:1 on wideband my tires hook well and Im at 7 Psi due to transmission not liking bigger power.looking for a fwd 7 bolt fly to put my 5 speed in but no luck so far and 7-9 Psi on my t3 is faster in my car then my t25 at 16 psi

If your AFR’s aren’t changing drastically and tires hook well it must be magic then. :aha:

I disagree with what’s said above about a “night and day difference with cold weather”. That little drop in ambient temp. isn’t going to cause a drastic change. There is roughly a 1% increase in HP per 10* temp drop. So if your boost level and AFR”s remain the same… assuming you made 300hp a 30* temp drop would net you about a whopping 9hp.

Somehow I don’t think we are on the same page when talking about a good hooking tire. U still running the 18” Wheel in your sig? Drag radial?

A stock AUTO rebuild with the blue wire mod your running should hold 400+whp. If it’s not holding the power your making it’s got issues.

Yes Im still running 18 inch rims when i say they hook well i mean on a 80 degree day if i come up on the stall and launch i spin 15 feet . At 60 i can spin till i let off my tires my not be great but the stick preety good in warm weather my tranny issue is from getting pounded on by other owners for 200000 miles i have a brand new 5 speed for another build that fell thru and just swapping to a 5 speed will work out most of the problems. Im sure after the swap i will need to work on traction and will turn the boost up.

Without a log, I vote that the colder temp was simply effecting your tires and they were cold enough to lose traction. How many times did you launch the car that day? Did the tires start hooking better after a few launches to heat them up?

Man I wouldn't do it! I wish you lived closer I'd trade transmissions with ya. Manuals blow! Autos are where it's at for a turbo car. If you throw a drag radial on the car your traction problems will be over at those power levels.

Good luck with it...
