. The turbine housings of diesel turbos are not large. They have a higher a/r number becasue 99% of them are divided scroll housings. They need to spool to 30+ psi by 1300rpms for "pulling torque". This means that a 5.9 cummins pickup (where the hx35 comes from, guys upgrade to the hx40 all the time) will be displacing 3800litres. Any 4-stroke 2.0L displaces 3800litres at 3800rpms. Also diesel exhaust gases are slow and cold. Both VERY VERY bad for spool up. A journal bearing Holset spools faster than its Garrett GT ballbearing counterpart. Holsets have superback technology that gives them mega durability when overrevved. They have VERY durable bearings.
