hey guys so i orderd the garret dbb gt3582r from slowboyracing. i got it in today and it says precision on the hot side and cold side i called jeff at slowboy and tolled him about it ,he said the insides are garrett it just depends where they get there turbos from.
it still is a dbb and it says gt3582r with the sp cover and a 82 a/r hot side showld i worry about it.
it looks like this one-----http://bgturbokits.com/store/images/PT76-GTSw.jpg
but with the sp cover.
and i was also thinking on coating it the cold side what you guys think?

my question is if i showld worry about having the presision covers? its still a garrett
and as coating goes i didnt really look in to it that much what would you recomand?
i just asked trgcoating and he said he can coat it any coler i want.

i was also thinking on coating it the cold side what you guys think?

Hi,

If you are going to get it coated I would suggest coating the turbine side with ceramic coating. This will help to lower under the hood temps. and it will also help to keep more heat energy in the turbine which is always excellent.

All Slowboy-labeled turbos are PTE-built (G50, GT13, etc.) They must be in bed together.

As far as a supposed "Genuine Garrett" turbo from them having Precision parts, that seems a bit odd. Hope they didn't throw it together at the last minute.

thats ### i was thinking about im not really worryed because presision is pretty good to but i was just wondering if i asked for one thing and got another.
and i did called jeff at slowboy he stated that all pte turbos are made with garrett internals.

what showld i do just tell them i want to return it for an all garrett with the sp cover as i wanted to start with.
and how would i be abel to find out if the internals are garrett?

im kinda getting upset at this.:toobad:

who does that type off coating yeah that sounds like a good idea
what about the hot side?

The turbine is the hotside.

As for who you can send it to to get it done, I'm not exactly sure. This link has a couple places that you might want to try.

You can get the compressor side (cold side) painted if you want it to look better, but getting the turbine side ceramic coated is much more useful in my opinion.

Goodluck and please post back what you do about it.

Most ball bearing units that are utilized by PTE are in fact garrett units. I know for a fact that my 5031RE is a garret CHRA with PTE E comp cover + turbine housing. I'm not to sure why you got a PTE 35R when you ordered a true garrett one; but then again, I don't know enough about the two turbos to make a suggestion.

i emaild jeff at slowboyracing telling him what i want so ill end up returning this one for a tru garrett and i contacted jet-hot coating for a price on getting my dnp manifold and the turbo ceramic coated and trg coating to paint my turbo intake inlet.

in your guys opinions showld i just keep the turbo i have and not worry about shipping it back and then wait to get the other one. is there a bif difrenc from pte and garrett?

Your turbo is a true Garrett, it just has PTE housings on it. PTE does this because they can cast their own housings cheaper than they'd pay Garrett for the turbos with housings(also because Garrett does not sell turbos with DSM-specific turbine housings), so they only buy the CHRAs. Take a look at FP's site for how expensive housings are, and you'll see why PTE does it.

[edit]Can you post a link to exactly what you ordered?[/edit]

first let me thank you guys for your time and like spidey stated i do have a tru garrett just with the prescision cover, i just called jeff at slowboyracing and we almost talked for 2h about it and he did say that i do have a tru garrett turbo the cover dont mean anything its just cheaper.
