I am tring to battle boost spike on my setup. I am running 22 psi but it will spike to about 27 and go down to 22. My setup is a t3/t4. 57 trim wheel with a 63 ar housing. I am running a 38mm external wastegate. I went to a local speed shop and the guy there thinks that the wastegate is to small. I have the fuel and EMS to run 27 psi but with the 55 shot I run I am afraid that it wil be to much for my motor. I read on here that a bleeder MBC could be that cause of my problem. What do you guys think?

You can test the wastegate by just hooking up the vacuum line straight to the wastegate It should only boost up to the kind of spring you have inside. For example, If you have a 20psi spring inside it should only be hitting 20psi if it still spikes theres a problem with the wastegate and if it dosent the problem is your boost controller.

The 38mm is not too small for that turbo I use to have a 60-1 and it ran fine with a 38mm and there are guys here running gt style turbo's with a 38mm.

I have the same setup as you and i don't have anny spiking issues. What "trim" is your turbine(exhaust) wheel i.e. stage I , II, II 5 or V,P Q? I run a 63A/r hot side and the same 57 TO4E with the Tial wastegate. It could be teh MBC, but i highly doubt it. As DSMmike said, hook the wastegate directly up and see what happens, it should open around 9 PSI and hold there. THe 57 trim is laggy as can be, so unless you've got a stage 1 exhaust side i'm baffled. When does it make full spool by?

I did the direc vac line and it held a perfect 11 psi with no spike. It must be the boost controller. Anyone know a good inexpensive boost controller that can do 20+ psi with no problems?

inexpensive MBC < motor

You make the choice. I wouldn't cheap out on it, and always have a question in the back of my mind on if this ride with be the last of this motor.
