J Pipe question

I just got my car back from the shop (which had it for about 3 years!) And i was looking around the engine bay the other day and noticed that instead of a hard J-pipe they used what looked like radiator hose... My question is that would puchasing and installing a new J-pipe be worth it? I don't know what i would gain if i swapped out the hose for a hard pipe.
Any input will be much appreciated.

So do you have a single piece of hose that runs from the compressor outlet to the IC? I'm not familiar with the outlet on the PTE turbos (ie-does the pipe connect via coupler/clamp or does it bolt on?). Either way, hard piping is always nice because it won't expand under higher boost pressures so you get a little more air being pushed into the cylinders and the motor is a bit more responsive. Having said that, unless the pipe is really soft/mushy or real long I doubt the difference will be real significant. Personally I wouldn't lose any sleep over it but if you have the opportunity/funds to switch to all hard piping then I would. Just my opinion.

If it's just a short section of hose off of the compressor outlet that connects to a hard LICP then I would probably leave it be.
 
thanks for the input... and yeah it is a very short section, maybe only a foot long at the most connecting to the LICP.
