I am trying to round up ideas on the best ways to rid my 20G of surge above 21psi. My 20G is a TDO6 20G/TDO5H unclipped <--(regretting this side)
I have tried letting the wastegate blow open a bit early w/ an adj. arm on the wastegate, but that just really killed spool and it still surged above 20 psi.

1. I see FP has a 8cm turbine housing available. I wonder if that would be enough extra flow for the engine and extra lag for the unclipped TDO5H wheel?

Anybody have experience with it?

2. Just clip the damn turbo. How much though 10? 15? I am unsure how much this clipping will affect it. I already have a very nicely ported 7cm housing on it.

Thanks in advance

Jeff

The 20G compressor was meant to be coupled w/ the td06H turbine wheel. Mitsubishi's research and development is your answer.

An 8cm housing SHOULD help. But an 05H wheel in an 8cm^2 housing flows not nearly as much as a 06H wheel in a 7cm^2 housing. The spool differences should be minimal. . .

I wouldnt clip. Since you can get a 06H wheel and cut your 7cm^2 housing to fit, nowadays. It's not that expensive to cut your housing, then buy and balance another turbine wheel into the assembly. Boost on and be happy:thumb: !

That is the 1 thing I didn't know. Where the Mitsu 20G originally came from. I always guessed box truck, big cubes, 4cyl diesel with a totally different exhaust side than what a 4G63 would need. If Mitsu designed it with the TDO6H in mind then that is definitely my best option. Not a very cheap or fast option though. Oh well it should scream on top-end once I get the new wheel and allow me to run 28-30 psi like I want to.

Thanks!

I've seen many a 06H turbine put a smile on a dsm drivers face. . . Put it this way, an 05H wheel is stock. And you want to run an non-stock high performance turbo. An 06H wheel is a big jump and much more laggy. But MHI doesn't give you much choice. And you can get some quickness in spool back w/ a 7 cm^2 housing, as traditionally the 20g came w/ larger a/r turbine housings. . . I don't think the 06H wheel and the 7cm^2 is all that laggy considering my discussions w/ others who run the old FP Green/Red & 20G turbos and from my witness in the passenger's seat.

Lag or not, why get a big flowing conpressor wheel only bust it in the knee caps w/ a stockish hotside?
