Ok here's the deal I have an fp3565 and it had one of the original fp housings on it meaning it had the TiAl 40mm flange on it. Well since they discontinued the wastegate I decided to send the housing back down to fp to have them update the flange to the 44mm. Well I was down in South Padre Island for spring break last week and the wastegate had shown up. I arrived home yesterday and opened up my package to inspect things and hadn't had the chance to test fit the wastegate yet. Today I woke up and started test fitting things and I put my 3'' o2 housing on and then attempted to mount the waste gate and it appears that there is some interferance between the v-band clamp and the o2 housing. I was just wondering if anyone else with an fp30 series turbo and 3'' o2 housing have had this problem or if mine is out of the ordinary. I am planning on calling Fp tomorrow afternoon and seeing what they say. I have no doubt that they will take care of me as they always have.

Mine has some interferance as well, if you play around with the vband clamp when your installing it you should be able to get it to clear. Just need to get it in the right spot & at the right angle. I'd give it another shot first.

First off, I'll say that the FP turbine housing is pure sex. It's also the largest AR you can get in a bolt-on configuration currently (although you could argue that a true "bolt-on" should work with a stock flanged o2 housing). It's also the most expensive.

Having said that, I've set one up on a friend's car and I'd never own one myself. The whole concept of the v-bands making removal/installation simpler is a crock of crap. Everything has to be mocked up perfectly to get everything to clear each other. The wastegate has to be installed on the housing before you bolt the manifold on, otherwise you won't get the v-band for the gate over the flange (this may be cured if you use an FP manifold). The oil feed fitting wouldn't clear the turbine housing unless I clocked the cartridge in such a way that the oil return line (FP's blue one) kinked badly, so I had to cut it short and find a 90 degree AN adaptor and convert it at the pan flange.

You're paying for a tubular o2 housing, v-band gate, and expensive BB turbo (and most likely a new exhaust manifold of some sort, whether it's a 2G, EVO, SBR, FP, or tubular). For a few hundred bucks more, you could just go T3 and be done with it. Other bolt-ons have their place, they're cheaper by far than going full Garrett. I get it. I run a bolt-on myself. I just think that for the premium you pay for FP, you might as well take that last little step. For everyone that already has one, not knocking your choice. Enjoy it. Just trying to give a heads up to people who are considering them.

On a regular bassis I question if moving up from the FP3065 bolt on setup was a good one. If FP30 turbos didn't exist it would be a hard choice between a bolt on and a full Garrett setup, but they're such a nice part and everything is so easy... If I could go back in time I'd probably keep my FP3065.

I've had a SFP T3 setup and currently the super duper Shearer top mount T4. The simplicity of the FP30 is a joy.

I just got off the phone with Fp and they told me that all I had to do was make a small dent in the area of interferance and it will solve all issues. They told me that now when they ship out the 3'' o2 housings they ship them pre dented but I bought this way back before the 44mm was released and there was no interferance with the 40mm. Thanks for the replies though guys.
